August

"How you doin'?" I asked afta' sippin' some of my water.

"Making it, how about yourself?"

"I can't complain. I woke up today and I'm breathin'."

"Still the same Aug." She said followed by a chuckle.

"You still the same Tati, jus' a lil mo' bout yourself na." I said earnin' a look. "Not inna' bad way tho." I clarified. "I respect how you puttin' yourself first fa once. You've grown since we was togetha'."

"Thanks Aug." She smiled softly.

"No problemo." I smiled.

"So what you wanted to talk about?" She questioned, gettin' to the point.

"Well afta' takin' lil Aug to the park yeste'day, I got to thinkin'."

"Bout?" She questioned, as she sipped some of her tea.

"I would like fa lil Aug to stay with me a lil mo' instead of jus' weekends. I am his fatha' and I have a right and say in where he stays at from time to time."

"I see where this is going."

"I'm not takin' him from you, but you and I both kno' dat it's a big impact fa me to be in his life mo'." I pushed a lil mo'.

"Let me think about this August. I'm not saying no, but I'm not saying yes yet either."

"No rush, take ya time. I jus' wanted us ta have an adult conversation bout our son."

"I hear you August." She sighed as my phone rang. It was Laana callin' me.

"Hello?" I answa'd.

"Babe, when you make your way back, could you stop by Wal-Mart and get some things I need to make dinner."

"Yeah, what you need?"

"I'm making a little list, I'll text it to you when I finish it off."

"Okay baybeh." I said.

"Thanks baby, love you. See you when you get home." She said.

"I love you too baybeh." I said befo' hangin' up. Lookin' at Tati, I cleared my throat as she looked a lil uneasy. "I kno' things ain't work out fa us T, but you kno' I'm still here fa you. You're the motha' to my son, so don't hesitate to call me when needed." I said standin' up and droppin' a twenty on the table. "Dat's fo' my plate and whatever you ordered." I said as I bent down and placed a friendly kiss on her fo'head and walked away.

Afta' talkin' things out wit' Tati, I jus' hopes she sees whea' I'm comin' from wit' this. I would love fa us to be friends fa the sake of our son but, I kno' fa fact dat Tati still wants thea' to be an us and as far as I'm concerned, I moved past dat part of my life. I tried to make things work out afta' our son was born, but she continuously pushed me away, which led me to Laana. Girl may seem like she has issues, but dats because she does. A lot of things from the past dat you wouldn't even think of twice to happen. I think me and Laana was destined to meet tho. She don't like Tati, of course cause she my baby mama, but she never once disrespected her in front of me.
