"I don't know how to tell you this." Skinny told Laana.

"Aug's been shot!" Dré yelled through the phone.

"What?!" She questioned. "What the hell were y'all doing?"

"Now ain't the time fa' questions Laana." Dré said as calmly as he could. "Y'all get ready. I'ma send one'a these niggas to come get y'all." He said before hanging up the phone.

By now, the ambulance is there and they were tending to August. Police were starting to tape off the scene and asking questions.

"What happened?" One'a the police offica's asked me.

"Mayne, I'on even know. We was just on our way to a club to enjoy ourselves."

"A club huh?" The otha' offica' said. "The hotel you guys were at?" He then questioned. "Security said you all got into an altercation."

"Some guy just came and took off on our boy." I simply said. "Just came, hit him and started stompin' him. So we all got into it."

"You didn't see the shooter?"

"Nah, I ducked as soon as shots started flyin'." I spoke. "They let out like 40 shots."

"Can I see your driver's license?" The offica' asked, changin' the subject. I reached in my back pocket and pulled out my wallet, handin' it to him.

"Dondré Rajarm." He said. "From Atlanta." He said.

"Maybe this isn't gang related after all." The otha' offica' said.

"Aight son." The offica' said handin' me back my wallet. "Why don't you hop in the ambulance and ride on to the hospital with your friend here and get these wounds of yours cleaned up."

"Finally." I mumbled gettin' up.

Afta' they bandaged up my hand and made sure my head was okay. I joined Jac and nem inna waitin' room.

"You good bruh?" Jac asked.

"Yeah fam, I'm good." I said pushin' past him and sittin' by Laana.

"Are you okay?" She asked.

"I'ma hold myself up fo' my boy in thea'." I said. "They say anything?"

"He's already been through a surgery." She said while her voice cracked a little.

"It's gonna be okay." I reassured her. "He's gon be good." I said positively.

It had been a few days dat we been hea' in Vegas. They were keepin' a close eye on Aug since he had complications with one'a of his 4 surgeries. I sat inna' same spot I always sat in as the do's to the hallway flew open. Glancin' up it was Tatiana. News broke to her the otha' day and she made sure to come and be by his side.

"T..." I trailed off.

"How is he?" She questioned.

"He's doin' betta' than the last surgery." I said as she put her hands togetha' prayin'.

"Thank you God." She mumbled to herself. "Are you okay?" She questioned lookin' at how bandaged up I looked.

"I'm fine. Pain's a bitch but I'm good." I stressed. "Kristin and them should be back any minute now."

"Where she go?"

"To the hotel to check on Laana." I said.

"Oh yeah..." She trailed off.

"You know you was hea' befo' her. You always family." I assured her.

"I'm not tripping off that Dré. Just forgot her ass was running around playing house with August." She shrugged. "I'ma just see him and be on my way to the hotel." She said as she walked off.

When I heard that August got shot, my heart literally dropped. Jac bought me the first available ticket that was affordable. I'm thankful that they still look out for me as if things were like they were back in the day.

Walking into his room, he was hooked up to a feeding tube. Seeing him like that literally made me weak in the knees. He laid there with his eyes closed as I'm guessing he was sleep. I slowly walked towards his bedside as it felt like the longest walk ever. Reaching for his hand, I called out his name.

"August..." I trailed off as my voice cracked a little. He slowly opened his eyes and looked at me. He looked so exhausted. "Thank God you're okay." I said lowly as I sighed.

It was quiet between us, mainly because I was the only one who could talk.

"I know you're probably wondering what I'm doing here..." I sighed yet again. "Jac broke the news to me and bought the first ticket here." I looked at him as he had a soft look in his eyes. I felt his thumb rub smoothly over my hand as a tear slowly rolled down my face. "I can't wait for you to get out of here. I know you hate hospitals." I giggled a little as I saw a little smirk on his face. Hearing the door open, I looked behind me as I saw Laana walk in.

"Ummm. Hey." She said awkwardly. Me and her have had a few run ins and they've always been awkward because I try to maintain a cordial relationship for the sake of Aug.

"Hey girl." I said rolling my eyes internally.

"I didn't know you were coming down." She said more ignorantly.

"Just flew in this morning." I sighed standing up. "I'll come back and check on you later Aug. August also said to stay strong and that he loves you." I said looking at him before walking out.

"Hey girl." Kristin said embracing me in a hug that was kinda much needed. Sensing that she knew I was about to cry she pulled me off to the side. "It's okay girl." She pat my back.

Layin' up in dis hospital bed had me grateful fa life. All dis pain, but I'm still grateful. Somebody tried ta murda' me and God let me continue to live my life. Seein' Tati honestly made me feel a lah' betta'. She hopped onna' plane and came all the way hea' ta be by my side. I wish I could've held a conversation with her tho.

"What the fuck is going on here August?" Laana questioned me as I looked at her crazily. "Why the fuck is your ex popping up in your fucking hospital room?" She questioned. I shook my head as I felt a headache comin'.

"I knew the bitch still wanted you." She continued. "In here holding your hand and all up in your face." She laughed. "And you fucking let her!" She exclaimed. "If only that feeding tube wasn't in your damn mouth and you weren't up in that bed recovering from your wounds, I'd beat your ass." She said, anger very present in her voice.

"You just like making me look stupid." She sat down and put her face in her hands. "You probably told one of them to call her." She then said.

What the fuck is she talkin' bout? I been in surgery every day dat I been in hea' and she talkin' bout I tol' one'a nem to call Tati. Tati ass ain't in hea' bitchin' at me bout no stupid shit.

As she kept goin' on bout dumb shit, I jus' closed my eyes and went to sleep.

A short chapter, but I thought it would be interesting to have Laana & Tati cross paths. 😅 Tell me what y'all think as I actually start working on the next chapter.
