Chapter 2

Wesley dropped me at the entrance of the hospital and went to park his car.

As I waited for him, I had a strange feeling that someone was watching me. I looked around and observed the hospital, searching for the burning gaze on my back but failing.

Weird, I thought.

The hospital looked like a normal house, well more like a mansion. It was huge! Anyone who passed by wouldn't suspect a thing.

I kept glancing around, my thoughts wandering to different places.

" BOO!"

"AHHHHH!" I screamed so hard I think I went deaf.

I turned around and saw Wesley, laughing so hard there were tears in his eyes.

I gave him my scariest glare and then I started smiling while thinking about my sweet, sweet revenge.

Wesley stopped laughing, and gave me a nervous smile.

" Uhhh.. Lace, are you okay ?" Wesley asked.

" Oh yes, I'm perfectly fine " I replied, smiling even wider.

No I should think of a better plan, I thought. I should make him suffer.

" Lace? I'm gonna go now" Wes said while slowly backing away.

" No! Wait! "

He stopped walking.

"Yes ?" He looked so scared I almost felt sorry for him. Almost.

" Pink or Orange ? " I asked .

" What? " He stared at me , dumbfounded

" Pink or Orange ? What do you hate more ? "

" Uh Orange ? " he blinked, twice.

pink it is , then.

I had the perfect plan.

" Okay, let's get inside " I said and started walking towards the main door.Wes followed right after.

I knocked on the door, waiting for Sam to open it. Sam is the guard of the hospital, he has a special room filled with tons of screens displaying every part of the place.

The door creaked as it opened.

" Come on " Wesley said as he went inside .

I followed him .

The inside of the hospital wasn't much different than a normal hospital. Well except for the forbidden area. Not that I would know what it looks like, but from what I've heard the place is terrifying.

The forbidden area was open only during the night time.
That's why we're not allowed to stay at the hospital later than 8.

There was one time I stayed here during the night. I was only 7, I didn't know much about the forbidden area nor did I care.

The day my dad died.

" Lacey, are you okay ? " I heard Wesley saying.

I looked up from the floor.

" Why wouldn't I be? " I asked, confused.

" You're crying."

Am I?

I quickly wiped my eyes and realized that indeed, I was crying.

" Sorry I just, I was thinking about Dad..."

" Hey, it's okay. don't cry, cupcake " Wes said while hugging me.

I buried my face in his chest and hugged him closer.

" I miss him."

" I know Lace, so do I." Wes sighed.

" Lacey? "

I stepped away from Wes and saw Mom, looking worried.

" Hey Mom"

" Sweetie, are you alright?" She looked even more worried as she saw the tears in my eyes.

"Mom I'm fine, don't worry. "

"Did something happen ?"

" No Mom. Are you okay? You look worried."

Mom started tearing up.

" Mom? What happened ?"

" he's going to get you " She whispered.

" What ? " I looked at her confused.

" Nothing, nothing" She smiled sadly and turned away.

"Come on , you and Wes have to help us. There are many patients waiting. Follow me."

She started walking towards the lab.

What just happened? I thought.
I'm so confused. What is my mom talking about?

And more importantly,

Who's going to get me?
