It was a fine summer day. Kagagaling ko lang ng bookstore sa Coastal Mall. I brought a series book. It was my favorite.
I was walking along the seashore sipping a frappe when I notice someone afar looking at me. Or rather sa librong hinahawakan ko. I raised my brow and just looked away, telling the person I'm not interested at entertaining anyone.
Hanggang sa nakauwi ako I cant erase his stares. It was a mystery tho. I know we've met somewhere, but I am not that quite sure why, how, and when.
"Darling? Are you home already?" I Heard my mom shouting over our yarn.
"Opo. Kakauwi ko lang, 'Mmy. From coastal mall." I said. Sabay sarado ng pinto. I drop my book in one of our shelves sa salas and I went to see mom.
"Found the book you're looking for?"
"Yup. Found it. Pinatong ko lang po sa salas. Where's Dad?"
Mom shrugges. "I'm not really sure honey. Kanina sabi nya he was with he's amigos house three blocks away here. But that was a while ago. Siguro nasa seaside ulit sila. Fishing. I haven't checked my phone yet for updates since you went out. " she explains. "Bakit nga pala, honey?"
"Nothing, mommy. Natanong ko lang po. Akyat na po muna ako sa taas. I'll go change into pajamas."
"Why? You you look great on your dress."
"I'm not into this, Mom. Alam mo yan." I silently blushed. Yes, I am not. But beats me. Gusto ko 'yung saan ako kumportable.
Umakyat na ako sa room at nahiga sa kama ko. I looked for my favorite bear and hug it.
This is it, Allisandrea. This is your new summer life. Away from you used to do and to be. Agad akong nagpalit na into my pajamas.
My name's Allisandrea Marie Cappulchore. I am a Half-American and Half-Filipina. My mom is a filipina. While my dad, he's the other half. And I just turned 18 a month ago.
Actually kakalipat lang namin. Were from Elizabeth, WestSilks. Not much to discuss. Pero grabe andun yung mga friends ko. Oh well, this is not bad after all. Andito lang naman pala kami for summer vacation. So no worries. Hoho. My apology. Im weird. Yes, Im aware of that.
Were now living in Georgia, Northcallows. It is near Bikini Ocean and Bikini Natural Park--two of the best hot topics today in Tour Magazine.
I like the ambiance and place here because of the view. But I find it boring. Parang palagi nalang 'yung araw araw na ginagawa ko. I mean there are no thrills at all. Tsaka isa pa bago nga lang kami so what do you expect anyway?
I head sudden foosteps coming near. Napatigil ako.
"Dad? What's with the rush?" Yep. It's my dad came here rushing.
He laughed. "Oh nothing, Darling. Gusto ko lang makita yung favorite kong anak." I forgot to say, Dad knows how to speak in Tagalog. Mom taught him well.
I made a face. "Dad as if may choice ka. I am your only child." I said in a matter-of-fact tone at tumawa ulet ito. "No jokes, dad. Ano nga meron?" Dagdag ko pa.
He cleared his throat first before speaking. "I enrolled you in a summer school. Here in Georgia. To let you experience the culture here."
"Eer. A summer school, Dad? For me?" He nodded..
Ohhh. I understa--
"Wait a minute. . .? What?! Dad?! You enrolled me? In a summer school?! What for?" Medyo nagugulantang ako sa mga pangyayare. "We just came here dad! Wala pa nga tayong 1 month, eh. Tsaka I dont remember hearing you guys say na pupunta tayo rito for my summer class. I thought it was OUR SUMMER VACATION." I really emphasized the last part. The heck. I dont want to go to summer classes.
"It's already decided, honey. You're coming to a summer class. Don't worry, you're with a friend." Unexpectedly I heard my Mom's voice saying that behind my door.
"Mom?? Ikaw rin?? You knew? Pero why summer school? Bakit agad-agad?" I can't believe it. "Tsaka a friend? What friend? I don't have any in this place!"
"Hush now. Actually you do have. We've been here a long time ago. Too long that now you cannot remember." Dad says.
"So it's settled then." Mom.
Oh no. Oh no. I don't think this is a great idea. Ghad! This is too too tooo sudden!! If you know what I mean??
"But Mom--"
"Hmmp. No 'Buts', darling."
I rolled my eyes. "Fine." They won. Great. How am I supposed to deal with these now?
Way a go, Sandrea! Diba sabi mo kanina ang boring dito? Walang thrill? Now here's the answer for your daily routines. - back of my mind said.
Tss. Well the thing is, I just find it boring. Wala akong winish or in-ask na sana may magbago. As in 'yung agad-agad tulad neto!
Mom hugged me. "Goodluck, Allisandrea! Your first day will start tomorrow." She kisses my cheeks next.
Yeah right. And so my next chapter begins here.
