{Picure above is Steel and his brothers}
___It was probably another five minutes before mingled scents of dog hit me like a train.
Steel's brothers Remington and Duke were taking in hushed voices off to the side, Steel led the way, Cobalt was in the rear and staring at the ground deep in thought. Kobi was excitedly leaping around, taking in the site of the countrysides rolling hills, I envied how he was so carefree.
I trotted up to Steel, who glanced down at me and smiled which I returned.
"So, why did you save us?" I said curiously.
"Because I hate to see anyone being influenced by Delgado, he has no mercy for any dog or living thing other than himself and his sister" he replied darkly, I sensed that their was a rough history between the two leaders.
"Well thank you, I'm very grateful. I don't my brothers and I could have taken him honestly." I admitted shyly.
"He wouldn't have fought you alone, he has a ruthless pack and they play dirty" he said.
"I see..." I trailed off, not knowing what to really say. But I took a moment to take in his features. He was certainly well-cared for, he had the classic German Shepard colors that stood out. Unlike his brother Remington, who's colored were more faded and blended as well as his brother Duke who had a jet-black coat.
"So, tell me about yourself." Steel barked, breaking the silence.
"Well" I started "My brothers and I were on a sled team until our mushers retired, and then the three of us were adopted into a family of five. We had a big backyard, a pool, a nice white fence.." I trailed off again, feeling a little homesick.
"I'm sorry you were separated" he mumbled softly. "You seem to miss your people dearly"
I flicked my tail "Yes" i barked, but quieted as I added "Cobalts taken it the hardest"
"I see" he replied as I took a glance back towards my brothers. Kobi was taking to him now, trying to cheer him up.
"Well, here we are" Remington announced, leading us to a clearing. We were at a small field and the base of a mountain. Separate dens were under thick bushes, and a few small caves under boulders and in the base of the mountain. My eyes widened in awe, it was beautiful. A small stream was off to the side and it looked nice and cool to drink.
"Wow" I breathed.
"Yeah" Steel woofed softly. "Remington found this place and it was perfect yo start a pack. We've been here for awhile now."
"It's.. It's breathtaking" I woofed back, wide-eyed and in awe.
"Yeah" steel breathed back. I turned to see his big Amber eyes staring at me with a thoughtful look, but he snapped out of it quickly. "Let me introduce you to the pack." He said, trotting off.
It was Steel, my brothers and I now, walking up the trodden earth, Steel leapt up on a few big, flat rocks in the center of the clearing and gave a few sharp barks.
"Storm dogs!" He started "I'm pleased to announce we have visitors! We found them about to get attacked by the mange-ridden junkyard dogs, they have been invited into our home. And welcome to stay" he shot me a side glance. "If they wish." He directed his attention back to the small gathering of dogs before him proudly, I couldn't help but admire him. "Treat them with the respect as that you would treat my brothers and I, thank you" he finished, jumping down from the small boulders.
