Have you ever wanted to be part of a story collaboration?
Do you love to write, but never make the effort to finish a story?
Are you keen to broadcast your work to more people?
If your answer to any of those was a yes (and even if it wasn't), read on!

Ad Lib is a team of writers who are creating a story from scratch, without any planning beforehand! Each author writes one chapter of a story, their only prompt being what's previously happened in the story. It's a lot of fun!

Anyone who wants to be! Leave a comment on this story part if you want to get involved. We'll assign you a chapter to write and once the story is up to date, you'll get your chance to direct the story. When you have completed the chapter, email it to us at adlib.wattpad@gmail.com (do not post the chapter on your own account, and please only use Wattpad private messaging as a last resort). You will be given full credit for your work.

Authors who participate in the Ad Lib challenge will receive a follow from us, and two of their published stories will be added to the Our Authors reading list, which can be found on our profile.

Those who want to write a part of the Ad Lib story should comment on this story part or post a message on our board.

If you follow us, vote on a part of this story, or add it to your reading list, you'll receive a personal thanks on your message board. We'll also ask you if you want to participate. Please tag us (@ad-lib) in your reply, otherwise we won't receive a notification. This method is also an eligible way to apply.

When you are accepted or the chapter before your assigned one is posted, please begin writing as soon as possible. Try not to take longer than two weeks, because we've often got a lot of people waiting.

At the moment, we will accept submissions for one author to write more than one chapter of the story. If we have too many people wanting to take part, we'll have to change it to just one chapter per user. The word count goal per chapter is a minimum of around 1000 words. Don't stress if you've cut too short: send us the chapter anyway, and we'll edit in some extra bits for you. There is no maximum word limit (if it's ridiculously long, we'll split it into two chapters).

The genre of this story is Teen Fiction/Young Adult. Please stick to this genre as much as possible (i.e. don't turn it into a murder mystery or a hunt for treasure in an enchanted mountain). Don't worry if teen fiction is not your strong point - if Ad Lib becomes popular enough, we'll create more stories in different genres.

The story is set in past tense, in the third person.

Jemma, the main character, is a woman of colour with naturally dark hair. Please remember this when writing; we've received some submissions in which she describes her 'straight, blonde hair', or 'pale skin'. Jemma's best friend, Grace, is Asian (her specific ancestry has not yet been revealed).

Please keep your writing appropriate, with as little swearing and sexual references as possible. We want this story to be available to everyone.

We are trying to support a variety of campaigns with this story. These include (but are not limited to) ProjectWomanUp, talkthepoc, literasia, FreeTheLGBT, FreeYourBody, protectfemcharacters, BreakStereotypes, and weareteenqueens. Please keep this in mind as you write.
