6 A.M.
I was up at exactly 6 A.M.
Today was my first day as an editor for the Regency Magazine. The most high class magazine in the U.S.
This is the kind of job that you dream and wish for, reality tearing you down most of the time. It was a beautiful sensation to know that I had done something right. Somewhere, somehow.I got up and went into the bathroom and took a quick shower. Well, I kind of just stood there pondering what I was getting myself into. After about 15 minutes of thinking about life, I got out of the shower and dried my hair, curled it, then put half of it up into the mist complicated up-do I could do. Thank goodness for my high school friends for being so girly and helping me learn how to look somewhat presentable in life.
Going back into my room, still pondering if I should just pack up and leave so that all of the stress goes away, I picked out my clothes for the day.
I decided on a pair of white jeans with a black tank top with daisies on it. I topped off the outfit with a yellow blazer and yellow heels. Hey, don't judge the style.
The Regency doesn't have some lame dress code, its a fashion and life magazine for goodness sake.
I ran into the kitchen, realizing that it was 7:45 and I had to be at work by 8:30, I grabbed an apple and my keys and purse and headed out the door. I went down the elevator to the lobby and walked out to my car, which was actually a gift from Aria to me. Actually it was from Aria's boyfriend to me, but they 'got it together', even though he paid for it. All of it.
I got in and began the 15 minute drive through downtown L.A.
**********
I pulled up to the tall building of The Regency. It was breathtakingly beautiful. L.A. had some high class architecture if you ask me.
I walked into the building and was greeted by a very excited looking blonde, who was the receptionist.
"Hi! You must be Cara! Well duh you're Cara. You're the new girl right? I'm Maggie Reynolds. Just call me Mags." The blonde said with a little too much enthusiasm.
"Oh hey! Nice to meet you Mags." I replied. "What exactly do I do now? Like I have no clue where to go."
"Oh, I'll show you around and to your office and such. You're the new editor, correct?"
"Yeah, Yeah that's me."
"Great. Well your office is right over here, first floor office room 17, its the one at the end." Mags said as she pointed down a hallway with the most gorgeous paintings all along it.
"Thank you so much. I hope to see you around! And one last question, where is Aria Patrick's office?"
"Aria? Oh, photography hall, which is second floor first hall to your right, and she's in office, um, I think 3."
"Okay great! Thank you so much!" I said as I headed down the hall to office 17.
I opened the door to the room with a 17 on the door, hoping that it meant this was office 17.
The door swing open gently and I was met with the most gorgeous office ever.
"Holy shit!"
It was gorgeous. The office was at the end of the hallway, like Mags said, but that also meant that It was the largest of the offices in the hall. The walls were a bright white, and one wall was covered in wallpaper of the New York skyline. You know, that sort of thing. It was in black and white too.
In the middle of the room was a huge, white desk with a comfy looking black chair sitting behind it. It had a nice looking computer, and there were two grey chairs on the other side of the desk for conferences and such. There was a black rug on the floor and a cute standing lamp in the corner with a table and coffee maker. Next to that was a little kitchen nook kind of thing, with cups and bowls and a microwave and electric tea kettle (which I requested be put in my office when they asked me what I wanted in there.)
Behind the desk was another table with a printer, i Mac, and a file cabinet to the side.
This was literally the most adorable office ever. The black, white, and grey colors made it look very classy, while the red curtains added a much needed pop of color.
You can't have drab offices and cubicles when its The Regency. The Regency is much to classy for that. Everyone had an office. Just some were bigger than others. Aka, being the new editor the The Regency, my office was the same size as the Co-Executives office on the 6th floor, the top floor. The Chief Executive, Mr. Kennedy, has the largest office, but honestly, he needs it.
I turn around in one swift motion and bump into something hard. I look up and see the hottest guy ever. And I've dated some pretty hot guys. (picture of Matt to the side).
"Oh my gosh. I am so sorry. Didn't see you there and I just...." I sputtered out.
"Hey, It's okay. I would never want to hurt such a pretty girl. I just came by to see if the new editor was here yet." Mr. Hot guy said.
Oh,Okay. Yeah. I'm Cara Regins, the new editor."
"I know who you are. I'm Matt Cohan, I'm the head of photography here. Nice to meet you Cara." (A/E picture of Matt on the side for y'all to droll over ;) )
"Nice to meet you too Matt."
I looked up at him and realized that his eyes were freaking beautiful. You know that blue where they are just... blue. Yeah that. His look like that.
Calm down Cara. So unprofessional. Don't get the lovey-doveys for a co-worker. That's weird.
"Well, I better get going. I hope everything is to your liking. And hey, I know you're new around here, but you the boss." Matt said.
"I'm the boss?"
"Yeah. Here at The Regency Mr. Kennedy takes his editors very seriously and he puts then in charge of pretty much every artistic call. He knows whats best for the company. Don't worry though, He chose you out of that bunch for a reason. I think we will all be seeing good things from Ms. Cara Regins in the future." Matt says as he walks swiftly out the door, shutting it behind him.
He pops his head back in the door and says, "Oh, and meet me at lunch. I want to talk about some stuff. You know. Work stuff. Since you work here now. Okay bye." And he shuts the door for the second time.
I think I'm gonna like it here.
