Okay, nobody ever told me that a real world job was this tiring.
Oh wait, they did. My entire high school career. Thanks high school for 'preparing' me for this.
I've been stuck in my office for the past 3 hours, and it's only my first day. I look across the room at the clock on my wall.
11:57. Lunch is at noon and I don't think I could be happier to leave this beautiful yet stuffy office for an hour. I stare at my clock for 3 minutes, and it finally hits noon. As soon as the 12 pops up on my clock, Aria is already in my office.
"Come on Cara? I'm hungry and Jonathan is meeting us for lunch today. I can't wait for you to meet him!" Aria said as her bright red hair bobbed up and down.
"I'd love to Ari, but I actually told Matt Cohan that I'd meet him for lunch today. He said he had to talk to me about something, probably something about the new article that I'm editing." I replied.
"Ahhhh come on. Really Cara?" Aria said with a disgusted face.
"What?" I was utterly confused by the disgust on her face.
"Are you seriously gonna get the hots for my boss? That's so gross Cara! EWWW my innocent mind is being torn to shreds!" Aria began to have a fake panic attack while pulling on her hair. Why am I her friend? What is my life.
"First off Aria, He's just talking about work stuff, and second, I DO NOT HAVE THE HOTS FOR HIM!" I yelled at her.
"Yeah yeah yeah girly. Just, don't go too crazy if ya know what I mean. I mean, you are legal to do that now but I guess you really don't have to. I mean, most people these days just expect it to happen after the first date but this is L.A. and guys here have alot of stuff wrong-"
"SHUT UP ARI!" I yelled at her to stop her totally not needed rant.
"Oh, sorry, Okay. Have fun at lunch."
She turned around to walk out of my office. popping her head back in saying, "Oh, and cute office girly!"
Oh my. This girl will be the death of my beautiful life.
I get up and put my heels back on, the ones I threw off as soon as I stared to get frustrated.
"Hey, stop being frustrated. Pretty girls don't deserve to get upset." I heard a voice say from my doorway.
I look up to see Matt leaning against the wall with his arms crossed. How did he hear me?
"Ya know, you should really stop saying your thoughts out loud. It might get you into troible sometime." Matt said with a smirk.
"Oh shut it Matt. And nice to see you again. You ready for lunch?"
"Yeah, uhm about that, I actually have a question for you first." Matt said with a.. worried tone?
"What is it?" I ask.
"Uhh, willyougoonadatewithme?" He said.
"Matt? You're gonna have to slow that down a bit"
"Oh, uhh. Will y-you go on a d-date with me?"
Awhh! He is so cute when he stutters. It must be a nervous thing. I could sense that he was scared since it was taking me so long to reply, but before I could say a word, he beat me too it.
"I mean, It's okay I get that we just met I, uhh, I'll see you soon okay?" He said as he sighed and headed for the door.
Wait, I don't even know if I like this guy. What do I say? Oh no.
"Uh, yeah. Yes I will." I say abruptly. It was almost like I couldn't hold myself back from saying it. It was like I needed to say it before he left.
Matt turned back around and grinned like a little kid in a candy store and came up and hugged me.
"I know we just met like a few hours ago Cara, but there's just something about you. Something very interesting. I promise you won't regret this Cara. I really do." Matt said.
"Ohh. Uhm, thank you?" It came out as most of a question than what I was planning.
Matt and I stood here looking at each other for what felt like a weird amount of time, when I heard someone clear their throat at the door. I look over to see an extremely cute guy at the door.
Snap out of it Cara. You're going on a date with Matt. Matt's hot. Yeah. Drop it.
I pull away from Matt and look over at the mystery guy. "Can I help you?" I ask.
"Yeah, sorry. Here's your mail." The mystery guy says as he turns and swiftly walks away.
"Okay.. Thank you?"
I walk back over to Matt and look at him.
"Who is that?" I ask.
"Oh, that's Marcus. The mail guy. He usually keeps to himself. Nobody really cares to talk to him anyway." (A/E Picture of Marcus on the side :D)
"Why doesn't anyone talk to him?"
"Well, he's different. He keeps this journal and writes in it all the time. Nobody really knows what he writes about, and nobody really cares to ask him. Are you thinking of being his friend? Because I doubt he will even try to be one back. Just saying. He keeps to himself Cara. Anyway, you ready for lunch?"
"Uhh, yeah. Let's go."
Matt reaches for my hand, and I gladly let him take it as we walk down to the cafe.
I can't help but think about Marcus though. What's in that journal?
