Chapter 3 - Her First Year

We started rowing across the lake, me and the girl sitting next to me panting and rowing as fast as we could. Suddenly, a ginormous black tentacle grabbed our little, wooden boat and tipped it upside down. Me and the girl fell into the murky water, screaming. I saw the giant man shouting something until my sight faded into darkness. Was I going to drown? I though to myself as I sunk even deeper. I stiffly shut my eyes, waving my arms around like a bird, as my breath slowly went away. I still sunk, and sunk, and sunk. I saw a ginormous black figure, with tentacles, looking as if it was dancing under the water. I still sank. I couldn't hold my breath anymore, I thought I was just about to drown until a blue flash of light zoomed towards me and the girl, and we both zoomed as fast as lightning into the air, until we were floating way above the water, then dark green sparks flew over to us and zoomed me and the girl back to the land. Loads of other students watched from the end of the lake at us, then when we touched the ground, I hadn't even realised we were soaking wet. Then the giant man wrapped a ginormous coat around us so we were technically tied together, me and the girl, then he muttered angrily:

"That blasted Giant Squid. Coulda drowned ye both..." and then the giant man turned towards me and exclaimed:

"Ooh! Are yah another Weasley?"

I replied nervously:

"Um..N-no, I'm L-Lily P-P-Potter..."

And he burst into a smile. 

"Ah, I see...Ginny's yeh mum, ain't she? You got her hair...But yeh got yah fa-"

I cut him off and said:

"My fathers eyes? Oh yeah, I know that." I grinned and then he said: 

"Ah, well, I'm Hagrid. Rubeus Hagrid. All of you, now, into the castle!" he exclaimed, pushing the doors open with such force that the doors then slammed against the wall, making a loud thudding noise.

Me and the other first years nervously walked in. Me and the girl in the coat sort of waddled as the coat was tight around us both. I saw Albus and James and they were smirking and laughing. I looked at them when they were looking at me and I said in sign language:

"The Giant Squid pulled us into the lake"

After I did that they burst out laughing. 

Then, us first years sat down in front of a wooden stage with a stool. A tall, wrinkly lady with her grey hair in a tight bun stood behind it, holding a ragged, torn in places hat with closed eyes and a rip for a mouth. I sat down next to the girl, still wearing Hagrid's coat with my soaking wet Hogwarts robes underneath. Then, the lady holding the hat said:

"Welcome, students, to a new year of Hogwarts. This year, is as normal. New students, no new professors, and no Tri Wizard Tournament or Yule Ball. And by the way, first years, my name is Professor Mcgonnagal, Headmistress of Hogwarts. So, first on the list to be sorted by the Sorting Hat," she said, holding up the hat and looking at the list in the caretaker, Filchs, hand, 

"Longbottom, Eliza."

Surprisingly, the girl in the coat who sat next to me stood up, her robes now dry,  and walked over to the stool and sat down. I saw a professor at the staff table beaming in pride, and I thought it must've been Professor Longbottom. After a few seconds, the Sorting Hat bellowed:
