Hawkmoth had begun to try a new tactic. This time, it wasn't just the akumatized villains turned against them, or people controlled by the villains.

It was the whole of Paris.

At first they ignored him because, well, he was Hawkmoth. He was the ultimate villain. But when he started making more and more valid points, they were forced to listen.

His arguments were simple. How could the whole of Paris trust two superheroes if they didn't even know who they were? For all Paris knew, these people could be working to dominate Paris on their own... Or worse.

As a matter of fact, Marinette herself would have believed him if she wasn't Ladybug and she didn't know Chat Noir so well.

Soon, people began speaking out. Criticizing the heroes. Demanding to know their identities. Wondering if they really were who they said they were.

They didn't bother to consider the countless times Ladybug and Chat Noir had risked their lives to save Paris. They were overtaken by this new notion of these dark superheroes.

Riots in the streets and friend turning on friend. Every boy was suspected to be Chat Noir and every girl was suspected to be Ladybug. It was the ultimate chaos.

And it had to stop.

Every day, Marinette would stare out of her room window to the Love Lock Bridge at the hundreds of people holding out signs and yelling for Ladybug to reveal her identity. For some reason, Chat Noir wasn't the major suspect anymore.

It was Ladybug.

Eventually she'd had enough of it. She transformed and swung herself to the bridge, bringing the racket from the crowd to a quiet murmur.

"If I show my true identity," she offered. "Will you stop?"

The crowd considered this.

"You have to promise not to target Chat Noir," Ladybug commanded. "If he doesn't want to reveal his identity, don't make him. Knowing who I am should be enough."

Mayor Bourgeois walked down the bridge, facing Ladybug.

"Jagged Stone will be having a concert this Friday," he announced. "You will be revealing your identity at the concert. If you would like to sing, we will have a karaoke ready."

Without another word, he turned around and walked back to his hotel, taking the crowd with him.
