The Peregrine Falcon swooped over the lush green forests of Takodana...
...And promptly fell out of the air.
"Oops."
Lyla had accidentally nudged the lever that turned everything off.
Damian stared at her incredulously, as if to say, What was that for?
Lyla grinned at him sheepishly.
He just shook his head at her, as Dylan clashed and clanked his way out of the gunners post and up to the cockpit.
"What's wrong? Are we hit?" he asked, puffing from the exertion.
Damian rolled his eyes. "No, our amazing pilot here decided to-ow!"
That last part was because Lyla decided to punch him in the arm. "I did say 'Oops'"
"That doesn't cut it!"
"Whatever. We should get going, before this ship explodes."
"Perry's gonna explode?" Dylan asked wide eyed.
"Probably not. But don't call her Perry!"
"Yes ma'am."
"Guys, seriously, we should go." Damian said.
"Alright then." Lyla pulled herself together. "Let's go."
"Yay! Let's go kick some Stormtrooper butt!" Dylan ran off whooping, with Damian following in his brother's footsteps. Lyla just sighed and shook her head.
So uncivilized.
Lyla stepped off the ramp and put on her helmet. She closed her eyes, sensing, rather than seeing, where she was going. She knew where the battle was-it was where all the death and destruction and terror was coming from. But she wasn't going there.
Not just yet.
She followed the Force, letting it lead her to her destination-a small, dimly lit clearing. Someone was standing in it, someone either a black helmet vaguely resembling her own, wielding a wildly unnatural red lightsaber, currently held at the throat of a dark-haired girl.
A dark-haired, Force-sensitive girl.
Kylo Ren didn't know. If he did, he'd have taken her to Snoke long ago. But the girl-
Lyla sensed a name. Rey.
Rey didn't know either. If she did, she'd be blocking out Kylo Ren easy as pie. And she would have left by now, instead of listening to what he had to say.
"You've seen it! The map! It's right here, in your mind." Kylo Ren was excited, an emotion hardly ever seen in him. He knocked her out, scooped her up and headed away to his shuttle, not even bothering to find the droid.
And Lyla followed like a shadow- that is, silent. And unseen.
*Linebreak*
Kylo Ren gave the girl to a couple of stormtroopers. He stood there for a moment or two, then went to board the ship. And Lyla stepped out of the shadows.
He sensed her immediately. She'd been hiding her presence from him this whole time, but now she had revealed it. He spun to look at her.
"Lyla Skywalker. What are you doing here?" A few stormtroopers tittered nervously. She was famous, she knew it. Also, most rational beings had feared her father, Darth Vader, whose mask she wore right there in front of them.
"I'm joining up." She replied. The dark side has cookies. I want them, she thought. But she didn't say it out loud. That would have been stupid.
Kylo Ren was not convinced. "Prove it."
"Not in front of all these people."
He glared at her. She could practically feel the burn of his stare through his mask. He exhaled slowly. "Fine. Come with me." He led her around the back of the shuttle. "Tell me."
But instead, Lyla showed him. How she'd always felt a pull to the dark side. How, strangely, killing didn't bother her at all. How revenge was sometimes the only thing she cared about. How heavy her heart was, with everything she had to hide. And how right the Darksaber felt in her grip.
Kylo Ren's shoulders slumped. He wanted a story like this, she knew. He still felt the pull to the light. Poor guy.
He gave another long exhale. "Fine. I say you may join us. But you must see the Supreme Leader before anything is decided."
He led her back around to the front of the ship, and signalled to a couple of stormtroopers standing there. "You two! Take her to a guest room on the second level"
"Yessir!"
Lyla followed them into the shuttle and into a room. The door hissed shut behind her.
It was dark, with a long strip of LED lighting along the edges of the roof. There was a metal desk, with a black pen and notebook placed to one side, a small black lamp, and a metal bed sticking out of the wall.
She sat down on the bed and sighed.
She should be mourning. She should be grieving for everything she had left behind. But she wasn't.
She took off the mask. It felt right, indeed, too right. So right it was wrong. And from the folds of her cloak, she took out the Darksaber, activated it, and produced something else, something that she had gone to great lengths to procure from the Coruscant Underground.
She activated the lightsaber training droid.
It fires red shots at her, and she deflected them, making sure only to hit the walls. Her connection with the Force deepened, and in doing so, she shut out first her ears, then her eyes. The living Force flowed through her. She was so immersed in it that she did not hear the door hiss open, only felt another presence in the room.
Her eyes opened. She fliced her hand, shutting off the droid, and deactivated the Darksaber, before putting on her mask. She turned to face the figure standing in the doorway.
"I didn't know you were blonde," said Kylo Ren.
"There are many things you don't know," Lyla answered stiffly. Of course she was blonde. She was her father's daughter.
Kylo Ren regarded her with an odd look. "We've landed. I am to take you to the Supreme Leader."
"I'm honoured," Lyla replied. When he didn't answer, she said, "Well? Are you going to take me or do I take myself?"
He seemed to come out of a trance. "Come with me."
It was time to see Snoke.
