Hermione sat asleep with her head on the beside table.
Her bushy hair fell over her front cheek, obscuring most of it.
"Hermione?" A sleepy voice said softly.
Hermione popped up, shaking her head profusely.
"What are you doing?" The voice said again, watching Hermione with a smile.
Hermione looked at Harry, laying helplessly in the hospital wing bed, and frowned.
"I was waiting for you to wake up," she said. Harry laughed. "You didn't have to do that. I'm fine, I promise."
"I was really worried. But Madam Pomfrey said you should be good to leave this morning. I wanted to escort you," Hermione said, trying to justify her reason.
"I can take care of myself Hermione," Harry said, gazing up at her.
"Not really!" Hermione squealed.
Harry smiled. "Alright, if it's that important to you, you can walk with me," he said lightly.
Hermione grinned, swiping her sleep-driven hair behind her ears.
She watched him get out of bed completely fine, and a wave of relief seemed to wash over her.
They strolled out, walking down the corridor and made their way to the enchanted staircases. "You know, I can hardly remember last night. Where is everyone?" Harry asked.
Hermione looked up at him shakily, tears stinging her eyes as if on a timer. The school was in silence all morning in memory of Dumbledore. No classes, no nothing. Madam Promfrey said that she should approach the subject cautiously.
"Um... Well... When you went out, Snape... he um... It's a long story...."
They stopped at the top of the stairs. "Hermione....." He said slowly.
Hermione burst into tears. "He killed him! Snape killed Dumbledore! And you came back and were having a panic attack and I thought you were going to die so I had to kiss you to make sure you didn't!" She almost screamed, defiantly not following the silence rule.
Harry looked at her blankly, and took her in his chest. "It's ok, we'll be okay," he said silently. "It's coming back to be me now."
"I'm so sorry," Hermione sobbed, muffled into Harry's shirt.
And they stood there quietly, no sounds besides Hermione's soft cries, non moving, the sun coming up through the window behind them.

They lay on the common room couch, Hermione asleep on Harry's chest.
It was now the afternoon, so most people were out on the grounds, resulting in only a few fifth years studying for their O.W.L.S after the fact, trying to see what they missed.
"Hey, sleepy, wake up," Harry said, shaking Hermione. Hermione looked up, batting open her eyes. "Huh?" She mumbled.
"Wanna go outside?" He asked. Hermione sat up. "Do you want to go outside?" Hermione said caustically.
"I can't let this hold me in. I know I have to finish what Dumbledore started. And the year is almost over. I'm not coming back, Hermione. You and Ron have to stay here and finish up your studies. I'll go and find the horrorcruxes."
Hermione shook her head. "You know bloody well Ron and I would never agree to that. We're in this together, Harry. You need us."
Harry looked at Hermione, tiny but mighty, and smiled. "Well then let's go and find Ron."
Hermione smiled back. "Brilliant idea."
