"Maggie? Is that you?" I say, squinting to see if it's Maggie or not."Kenzie! Help me!" I don't like her, but I help her anyways. I couldn't just let her become Walker bait. I quickly go up behind the zombie and stab it in its thick skull. It falls to the ground with a thud.
"Are you okay?" I say looking her up and down. I notice what looks like a bite mark on her arm. Did she get bit? Oh my god, I didn't like her, but I certainly don't want her to be bitten. It would devastate Glenn and the others back at Alexandria.
"Yeah, I'm.." She stops talking and looks down at her hand, that's now covered in blood. She looks at me with wide eyes, then back down at her hand.
"I-I think you've been bitten.." I look up at her, tears welling in her eyes.
"Kenzie.. I-I can't.. I don't know how.. I didn't feel a thing.." She wipes the tears out of her eyes. All this time, I've wanted her to go somewhere, other than around Glenn and I. Especially now that I found out she had been abusing him. But I certainly didn't wish death upon her.
"Maggie.. Should I go get Glenn?" Right as I say that, Glenn pops up from around the corner.
"Hey ladies. Find anything of use? I found these.. Maggie? Kenzie? What's wrong?" Glenn looks at us both, raising his eyebrows.
"Glenn.. I've been bitten," Maggie starts crying and holds her arm in the place she's been bit. I felt awful for her. "I don't want to turn or become sick, so could.. Could you put me out of my misery? Please. It's what I want. It's going to happen anyways." She says, sniffling and wiping away the tears in her eyes. Glenn looks away, tears in his eyes.
"Kenzie... I can't. I can't do it. Can you.. Please?" Glenn asks, turning to face us. I nod and turn towards Maggie. She's crying and so is Glenn. I felt as if I should be too, but no tears would come out. I was upset, don't get me wrong, but her and I never had a good history, so I just couldn't force a tear to come out. But then it hit me. I had to kill someone. Another human being. A living, breathing, individual. I started crying at the thought.
Glenn walks over to Maggie and embraces her into a hug. He is whispering thing into her ear that I cannot make out, but I'm sure he's saying how much he loves her.
After them hugged for what seemed like forever, he lets go and turns towards me, tears streaming down his face, along with hers. Glenn quickly walks away, leaving the building.
Maggie walks up to me and hugs me. "Take good care of Glenn." She whispers in my ear. I hug her back.
"I will." I whisper back to her. And in that moment, I felt the tension between us leave the atmosphere. We continued hugging for a few more minutes and then we eventually released each other.
Maggie turned around and said calmly. "I'm ready. Shoot me in the back of the head. Just be quick about it." I could hear her voice start quivering in the last sentence she spoke. I picked up Glenn's gun that was sitting on the shelf next to me. My hands were quivering as I pulled the trigger. The loud gunshot went off and Maggie fell forward. I sat in shock for a second, staring at her lifeless body. I walked over towards Maggie's lifeless body and picked her up bridal style. She wasn't very heavy, which was good, considering I'm not very strong. I walked towards the exit of the store.
When I got outside, I saw Glenn sitting on the curb. He turned to face me, his eyes grew huge.
"Maggie!" He cried, looking down at her pale face. I felt so bad for him. He really cared about her, no matter what she did to him. It wasn't right, but he still loved her.
