As we pulled away from the kiss, my chest heaved as she was silent, my eyes opened again and the first thing I saw was Keanu staring straight at me, hands covered in blood. I could hear the rest of the lads shouting and saw the light of a phone screen, we must have kissed for longer than I thought. Matty was still eating the pizza, he always did have a strong stomach. Keanu was just staring at me though, I grabbed Sally's arm and led her down the street, I heard footsteps behind us. I glanced over my shoulder. Keanu was following, I started to walk faster, my shoulder started to sting, burning away like a fire inside my muscles. I was now dragging Sally along, she didn't even question why, she just followed me, she trusted me. It was pointless, however many corners we turned, back alleys we took and fences we hopped, he still followed. He knew this place better than me and didn't have a hole through his shoulder. I stopped, Sally didn't notice at first, so was a few steps ahead by the time her brother caught up with me.
I closed my eyes and waited for a blow to land somewhere on my bruised body...nothing hit me, I just heard him breathing infront of my face. I opened my eyes very slowly, expecting them to be covered by a fist any second. Instead I was met by the glare of Keanu, he looked angry, but kept glancing at Sally.
'If you have done anything to hurt my sister, I swear to god I will break every bone in your puny little body!' he eventually shouted.
all I could muster up as a reply was 'I was protecting her. He...he was going...going to...I had to....'
'Keanu, he stopped Craig...from...he was going to...Keanu, he saved me, Keanu deserved whatever he got, a good beating would have done him good.' Sally broke in and step forward.
' What? ''a good beating''? Sally, he bloody well killed him! Craig is dead in the flat!' a tear rolled down Keanu's cheek as he spat the words out, disgusted at his friend for what he'd done. Sally just looked straight at me, I couldn't meet her eyes, I was too ashamed, I didn't know if she hated me for killing, I took someones life. There was silence for a moment, while staring at the floor, I heard someone move and next thing I kew I had Sally and the warmth of her Jack Wills jumper wrapped around me, she was sobbing again and her brother was staring straight at me, with no anger in his eyes. His gaze caught my shoulder and he saw the wound.
'Are you ok man? What happened to you? Did he fire that gun?!' He seemed genuinly concerned for me, I looked at my shoulder for the first time and saw the huge blood stain slowly growing down my hoody, as soon as I saw how bad it was, it started to hurt like hell and felt faint. I had to sit down, I just sat on the kerb, Sally next to me and Keanu standing over us.
'Ryan called the police' Keanu broke the second silence.
'What?! when?' I asked, regaining my wits.
'As soon as we saw it.'
'Bugger! they are gonna be all over this estate, they'll find me in no time!' I shouted, I was scared, I could never prove self defence. Keanu looked at his feet and seemed to be thinking for a moment.
'What if they're not looking for you? Nobody saw you, nobody knows it was you.' he asked
'Well who else could it have been?' Sally spoke up
'What if it was me? my house, my knife I'm guessing?...'-I nodded-'He was slagging my sister I can say.' Keanu had clearly thought this through.
'I cannot let you take the blame for my mistake, I killed him, not you.' I said quietly
'No. You protected my sister, it should have been me there, I owe you. This is me repaying the favour, now go, go before I realise how stupid I'm being. Sally, I love you.'
With that he walked back towards the flat. Sally just sat with me and rested her head into my good shoulder. Silence engulfed the street and all that could be head was the blare of sirens a few streets away. We just sat there. Together.
Hello dear readers:) sorry for the big gap between updates, things have been bus busy busy. Right, I gad the story all planned out, but this chapter just came to me the othere day and I liked it better, so this is all new to me too:O
