* Clarke *

The bell had finally rung as I gathered my belongings and tried not to bump into anyone. I couldn't help but to let my mind wander. I wanted to be away from this place, maybe in California on a beach, where I could feel the sand between my toes and the sun on my face. Or possibly in London with the dark clouds and Big Ben. It's just an added plus that everyone there has a super cute accent. Anywhere but this place was fine with me. I was brought back to the present when someone bumped into me making me drop a book from my pile. I bent down to pick it up, when my best friend beat me to it.

"Thanks Meredith," I smiled and put it back on the stack

"No problem. So back to the Sweetbrew Café again today?"
I looked into the blondes deep green eyes. "You know I go everyday!"  We continued walking to the parking lot arm in arm.

"Come on we can catch up on homework and I'll make you a free drink puhhlease," Meredith smiled back at me.

"Fine, only if you make me a caramalized honey latte with extra whipped cream," I replied with a short laugh

"deal,"

As we arrived at the café I inhaled the smells around me, I had always loved the smell of strong coffee. My mother serving customer's at the register waved over at us, she had that rosy red smile on her face that always won people over.

"Pick the spot Mer I'll get our drinks," she nodded in response and went to our favorite round table, next to the window, where we get to watch the sun setting over the mountains.

"Hey mom," I greeted my mother with a kiss on the cheek.

"Hi honey how was school?" she was making drinks and talking to me at the same time.

"It was fine as usual, nothing too exciting I promise," I pushed a button on the machine and turned my back to it, leaning against the counter.

"That's good sweetie, tell Meredith I said hi for me I gotta get these to the customers," She picked up the drinks and left me behind.

"Sure thing mom," I said to myself for by the time the words came out of my mouth my mother was already gone. I grabbed the two drinks and brought them to our table.

Making our way through each subject I started to drift back into my day dreaming. As Meredith gets up to use the bathroom, I continued to doodle on my paper. I drew circles and started connecting them in different ways, my eyes drifting to look at my beautiful mother with her jet black hair, her rosy red cheeks, and her blue eyes that sparkled when she smiled. My mother was gorgeous, she could have any man she wanted. If my mother was so beautiful why did my father leave us when I was a baby? Was he even alive now? Had he moved away? My mother was ninteen when she had me, maybe he was afraid of being a father? I couldn't help but think of all the what if's.

"Clarke!" Meredith running towards me brought me out of my trance.

"What Mer slow down!?" I got her to sit down for half a second before she starts talking a mile a minute.

"Ohmigosh the cutest boy ever was just totally checking you out!" she bubbled over with excitement

"What are you talking about? What boy?" I looked around to see if anyone was looking at me but as usual, nobody was.

"How did you not notice him he was super cute!?" she asked dramatically

"I don't notice people like you do, I just keep to myself." I finish the doodle on my page and shut the book. "Doesnt matter, even if I did notice him I'm a nobody. He wouldn't want me. He's probably just looking for another girl to play around with like every other guy out there."  Meredith huffed out a breath and collected her things also

"This is why your always going to be single." I smiled at my friend and slung my backpack across my shoulder

"No I won't I just have to find the right one first, anyways I have to help my mom now but thanks for studying with me." I gave my best friend a hug and went to change so I could start my shift. I could already tell it was gonna be a long night.
