I was preparing for bad news due to the way Rick was acting.
Rick dropped down onto the stairs causing the stairs to release a loud screech.
"Grace, Carl told me you followed him into the woods last night and saved him from a walker correct?"
"Yes, I felt the need to follow him because a walker might be around."
"Lori and I, both, wanted to thank you for following Carl."
I was relieved, I didn't have to fight back. So I sat down next to Rick on the stairs.
"That is what the group is for, we all take care of one another. I told Carl too if he wanted to ever wander out talk to me I will watch for walkers."
"Sorry if I frightened you, I didn't mean to I just have a lot on my mind. I am greatful to have you with us, you have done so much. I sometimes look up at you since you seem so unbreakable."
"Rick, I had my moments where I wanted to bust out crying or yell at the top of my lungs. We all need to sometimes show weakness but now it isn't the time. I am here for anything, Rick."
He smiled and said, "Thank you Grace." He said in a soft tone of voice.
"Anytime Rick, I am usually never too far away!"
I shook his hand and Rick got up and went back inside.
I let out a sigh of relief and laid down on the stairs using my elbows to prop me up.
I looked up and the sky was filled with gray and white clouds scattered all over the sky. It was different how the clouds were spaced out and grey and white.
I felt a breeze of cold air rush through my body, the wind started to pick up. I was hoping it wasn't going to snow this early but with our luck it probably will.
As I was getting up I heard a voice say, "Grace" causing me to jump a little. It was just Maggie.
"You scared me, what's wrong?"
"You're a girl and you have a visit from mother nature every month, do you possibly have pads or tampons?"
"I think there might be some in Raquel's truck, let me go check."
"Thank you!"
"Your welcome."
I ran inside and grabbed my crossbow, and I decided I didn't need my jacket.
I felt a hand on my shoulder.
"Where'er ya goin?"
"To be gutted from a walker in the woods because that shit sounds fuun." I said sarcastically.
"No really."
"To get some tampons-"
Daryl cut me off and said, "Okay, be careful."
I laughed and shook my head.
"Ya nervous talkin 'bout me bein a girl?" I said in a southern accent.
He grunted and gave me a dirty look.
I gave him a quick kiss and winked at him.
"I love you!"
"I love ya."
I walked out to the truck and found a box of tampons underneath the passengers seat. I knew Raquel all too well, she wouldn't leave them out for everyone to see. She was quite the clever person.
I found a bag so it would be discreet. I hated everyone knowing it was my time of the month so I hid them for Maggie.
I made my way back to the house and found an old fashion sheriffs pin. It was a bit rusty but still was shiny and I decided I would keep it so I put it in my jean pockets.
I got back inside and found Maggie patiently waiting for me in the kitchen. I handed her the bag containing tampons.
"Thank you Grace."
She pulled me into a hug, it took me a while to hug back because I was frozen.
"Anytime Maggie!"
She rushed into the bathroom and I made my way to the living room. I sat on the couch and I forgot about my crossbow being on my back.
I got up and I could feel the breeze on my back, my shirt had probably ripped.
I felt my back get a little wet and that made me think did it tear up my back THAT bad?
I got up and removed the crossbow and just then Daryl comes in.
"Comere."
He grabbed my hand and lead me outback.
"Daryl, quick question is my back bleeding?"
I grabbed my shirt and pulled it up.
"Yer bleeding hard, what happened?"
"I sat on the couch with my crossbow on my back."
"We're gonna put som gauze or somethin because it's bleedin hard."
"Damn it, I don't need anymore injuries."
He picked me up and carried me inside like we had just gotten married.
"Daryl, you don't have to carry me, it hurts my back a little."
He carefully put me down and held my hand. I felt so loved!
"Hershel, Grace here sat on the couch with her 'sbow and it scraped-"
"It's fine really, I don't need it looked at."
"No, I will need to, or at least bandage you up."
"Fine." I said reluctantly.
I sat down on the floor and pulled up my shirt.
"You did cut into yourself about two centimeters deep and maybe four wide. I'll clean you up and stitch that part up."
I sighed, I am constantly getting beat up. I seem to be the only one- Nope, I take that back Daryl and I both are constantly injured.
"You okay beautiful?"
"Rather dashing, I can't say this is the worst injury but it one my stupidest injuries."
He sat down infront of me, showing me his breath taking, beautiful, blue eyes.
I was just about to speak when Hershel came back and said, "I am going to clean it with alcohol so it might sting a little."
It took him a while to clean my back up, it felt like my whole back had been scratched.
"Now I am going to stitch you."
Daryl was starring at me with his blue eyes making me somewhat uncomfortable.
"Do you have to stare at me?" I said shyly and under my breath.
"Yer just so beautiful." He said quietly.
I was tempted to kiss him but he was too far away, I would have to lean in and then it would really hurt my back.
Not too long after Daryl's wonderful comment Hershel was finished stitching me. He said no antibiotics this time but any signs of infection to take some.
I slide my way to Daryl and wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed him. He placed his hands, carefully on my face and with his thumbs he ran them up and down my cheeks while we still had our lips locked together
Just like out of a horror movie we hear a girl screaming bloody murder. Daryl gets up and grabs his bow and we dash outback.
