[Ash's POV]

Walking down the high school steps, I take my keys to my black Mustang Convertible.

"Ash! You're skipping class again?" Clover yelled as she jogged down the steps. I nod as I step in the driver's seat of my car. "Girl, you must be crazy. This is the fourth time this month, And It's the FIRST of MAY."

"Yeah, so? Who cares?" Shutting my door and starting the engine, I wait for Clover to move out the way. She points at my window and rolls her hand. Rolling down my window, she walks over to me.

"Me, Ash, I care. Jake cares, and you really know that Sean cares. He's your boyfriend." Clover growls at me, her golden hair flying everywhere as she waves around her hands. I look down and start looking at my blonde hair that turns to red at the tips for split ends. Of course, there are hundreds of them. "Are you even paying attention to what I'm saying?!"

"Hm? Something about how we use too much gasoline, even though we've already blown through that so now we're on ethanol."

"Oil Ash. Oil. We are running out of oil."

"Okay, you didn't need to repeat it three times for me to understand. You could have just said 'Oil' and I would know that it was oil instead of gasoline. Plus, why is it so important. We've already made an alternate source of corn juice to make a 'fake' oil. You know that, so why are you worrying?"

"Because people are still mining for it. It'll cause the earth to lose what balance it has left. Can't you see that?" She asks, her voice etched with worry.

"I don't see what you're so worried about." I mutter, wiping my hair out of my eyes. "We have alternates for everything. We also are passing a law saying you can't mine oil anymore! Clove, I don't know why you're so worked up."

"What? You do know that for the law to be passed, it has to have two-thirds vote and have the president not veto." She exclaims, throwing her hands up in the process.

"Okay. I still don't see your point. Everybody but the miners want this to pass. Soooo, I'm going to go to Starbucks and get a grande frappuccino. If you have a problem with that, you can talk to my dust, cause I'm gone." I began to back away as I had to jerk to a halt again because of my stupid friend grabbing on to my car. "Dude. Are you sure you have A honor roll? Because this is probably one of the stupidest things I have yet to see you do."

"Yes. Now, don't go yet."

"I'm wasting my time right now..."

"Yes, you waste your time everyday you skip class."

"And you waste yours every time you try to get me to go to class. Now, if you'll excuse me, there's a frappuccino calling my name." I backed out of the lot, driving towards Starbucks.
