The evening breeze touched my face, causing me to smile. My hair, almost getting tangled by the wind, was covering my face as I walked through the streets of Magnolia at night.
It was fall season. The streets were full of dried, orangy-reddish leaves. As I stepped, the sound of crumbling leaves amused me, making me hop on them while laughing. Fortunately, everybody was in their homes, probably sleeping. Except for me.
I love taking strolls at night. When the wind whispers in your ear, when you feel peace and serenity, and when no one is bothering you, you would consider it a perfect time for walking, too.
The darkness does bother me. But eventually, I forget about it. The stars are bright tonight, there are lamp posts almost every three meters, the moon is exceptionally shining, too. So why be afraid of the dark?
Humming an almost unfamiliar tune, I reached Magnolia's city park. I loved to sit at the benches there, and contemplate life. A cold breeze passed through me, making me shiver and hug myself. I should've brought another coat, one jacket surely isn't enough.
I took out a sandwich, one I prepared for a midnight snack, and munched till I was satisfied. I just want to be here. I don't want to go elsewhere. This park is the only place that can make me feel safe.
I didn't want to go home, either. My brother, Gajeel, seldom lives there and sleeps at his fiancee's house. Levy is also an orphan, just like me and Gajeel. I always tell Gajeel that I'm fine by myself, but I'm not. I need a brother. But Levy needs him more. So I tell him to be with Levy.
In short, I live alone. In this park, I can feel that somehow, I am not alone. There are birds humming, crickets flapping, insects crawling, everything else.
Just as I was about to sit on a bench, I heard the bush behind me shake, followed by a chuckle.
Crap. This is not what I meant by not being alone. I take it back.
I stood on ground, but on the inside, I was shaking. What is behind me? Or rather who is behind me?
Suddenly, a hand from behind covered my mouth. My eyes grew wide and I tried to scream. But only muffled sounds came out.
"Sshhh. I won't harm you." he said. Yes, it's a he.
"Hmm dmm mm mm?!?" I tried to say, but failed.
(Translation: How do I know?!?)
"Shh. They're after you, so shut up." he said. What?!
"Hmmm mmmm mm?!?" I asked.
(Translation: Who's after me?!?)
But instead of answering my question, or whatever I said, that is, he suddenly dragged me out of the park. I wanted to scream, but every time I tried to, he would just cover my mouth.
