Alyce's POV
I watched her take another bite of the poisonous apple before glancing at me.
"That's my necklace." She looked at the necklace Atticus had given me and growled.
"The thief must've given it to her, madam." The knight spoke up.
"He's a-" I covered my mouth, just giving Snow White enough time to throw shade at Atticus.
"A thief, a liar. I hate to see him roaming around, he should be down in the dungeon." After she had finished another bite of her apple she froze, like she was thinking.
"He gave that to you, didn't he?" She asked intimidatingly.
I just stared right back at her. If I said no, she would assume that I took it. But, if I said yes, Atticus would be thrown into the dungeon. Neither of those things were an option.
"Say, where's Ferdinard?"
"Long gone, he's been... Away for a while." She smirked and looked at me with emotionless eyes.
"You killed him didn't you!"
"He risked his life to save Atticus, which resulted in his death, yes." Snow White made a face then went back to eating her apple.
"You're a...-"
"A monster? Darling I could kill you with one touch." Her smile stretched from ear to ear, like a child that won the grand prize at a carnival game.
"You wouldn't dare." I bit my lip in disappointment, wishing I had never said that.
"If it isn't you, then the thief is up for the killing. Find him." She stared at the knight and he immediately ran off.
I couldn't just let Atticus die. He risked his life for me, now it was my fault that he was being chased after. I sprinted out of her castle, to find Atticus waiting outside for me.
"We need to go." He scooped me up and ran off into the woods.
"Where's the knight?" I questioned, worried.
"Close. He nearly got me.." Atticus focused on his footing and continued to dash.
"I'm sorry.." I whispered, looking into his eyes.
"Don't apologize, I'm the thief here."
"It's my fault. Snow White noticed the necklace and claimed it was hers. That's why the knight is after you.." I watched his face turn from worried to disappointed.
"She wants me killed, because of a necklace?" He growled.
"Yeah. It's pretty stupid if you ask me."
"Be quiet." He covered my mouth with his hand and froze.
"They're here..." Atticus whispered in my ear and stood as still as a statue.
I breathed heavily and waited. Waited for Snow White to come out and kill me with that one touch she was talking about. Heck, the knight was probably right behind one of the trees, with his sword in hand.
Before I had another chance to think about what would happen next, Atticus let me down and kissed me. My face immediately turned red, extremely red.
"We have to split up." He looked into my eyes with a sudden sadness.
"Stay safe, please.." I planted a kiss on his cheek and ran off, I couldn't look back.
