Alyce's POV

Just as I was getting close to the end of the forest, I felt a hand around my neck. I tried screaming but all that came out was a whisper.

2 hours later

-------------------------------------------

I was woken up by screaming. Instinctively, I sat up and looked around, for any trace of someone. I was trapped in one of the dungeon cells, of course. I heard another scream and ran over to the door, looking through the bars.

What I saw was the worst thing I had seen in my life. The knight had Atticus tied up, and was repeatedly hitting him. I yelled at them, trying to get the knight's attention. It didn't work.

"Don't try anything again." The knight grabbed the handle of the door and threw Atticus in.

I attempted to get up, but my legs were like jelly. I crawled over to him and rolled him onto his back.

"Please tell me you can hear me..." I whispered, staring at his face.

And with that, he woke up. He turned back onto his side and started coughing up a crimson colored liquid, blood. I covered my mouth and backed up, they had done this to him.

"Atticus..." I watched him glance at me, wiping the blood away from his mouth.

"I'm fine." He sighed and leaned against the end of the bed.

"You're covered in bruises and scratches.. You are anything but fine." I held his arms up, examining him for any open cuts.

"Alyce." He laughed. "I'm okay, I don't need you to be my doctor."

"Sure." I smiled and set my head on his shoulder.

"Oh, Alyyyyyyyce." Snow White called from the top of the stairs.

"I don't want to see her." I wrapped my arms around Atticus' torso and closed my eyes.

"Go Alyce. I'll rest while your gone." He pulled my arms away from his torso and kissed my forehead.

I nodded and waited for the knight to unlock my cell. I glanced one last time at Atticus before heading upstairs. I had no clue whether I would get the chance to see him again or not.

"Take a seat." She pointed to a small stool in the center of the room. I obeyed her commands and sat down.

"What do you need?" I inquired.

"Why did you run away?" Snow White started to tap her dark red nails on her side table, that was never a good sign.

"I needed to save Atticus..." I answered her honestly. There was no use in lying, she would find out sooner or later.

"Ah, so you're working with the thief." She raised her eyebrow and stared deep into my eyes.

"I never said I'm stealing things."

"Quite defensive, aren't you? This will be more difficult than I thought."

"I'm just protecting my life." I sighed.

"I never said I would kill you." She chuckled.

"You threatened me."

"Of course I did, I do that to everyone."

"Why?" I crossed my arms.

"Because I'm the Queen, I control everyone and everything." Snow White spoke in a stern voice now.

"Take me back to the dungeon." I gritted my teeth and looked down.

"Very well." The knight grasped the top of my arm and practically drug me down the stairs, throwing me into the cell.

I hit the wall with a loud 'thud' and Atticus woke up, fixating on me. Worry covered his face and he walked over to me. Just as I was about to explain what had happened, he picked me up and sat on the bed.

"You okay?"

"Yep.." I grinned and nestled my head into his chest.
