"It's been a week." Luke said happily one morning, when he and Ashton were eating breakfast. "A week since I took you and they still haven't found you. Isn't that sad?"
Ashton shrugged, ignoring the comment and continuing to eat his breakfast. Just like the days before, he had to admit that Luke knew how to cook.
"Anyway. I thought we should do something special today, as a week together is something special." Luke then said, looking at the curly haired boy for a reaction.
Ashton looked up, his eyes meeting the blue ones as he raised his eyebrows. "Like what?"
"Well, I don't want to take you outside, because someone might see you and take you. I can't have that." Luke had looked down at his plate for a moment, before he looked up again. "Not that I wouldn't get you back. But I don't want anyone to hurt you."
Ashton wanted to protest that in fact, Luke was hurting him by keeping him here, but for not only his own safety but also others, he stayed quiet.
"Anyway, I wanted to make us a nice dinner, but then I'll have to go and well, you know what that means." Luke frowned a little, looking at the curly haired boy.
Ashton sighed. He had thought it was nice the moment he got 'moved' to Luke's room (which was way nicer than the basement), but there had been a catch. Whenever Luke would leave him alone for a longer time or would leave the apartment, a chain would go around Ashton's ankle, which made him unable to leave to bedroom. Which sucked if he had to pee, but Luke was never away that long.
"Do I -- is it necessary?" Ashton asked quietly, looking at the blonde through his eyelashes as he played with the last of his breakfast by using his fork.
"You know I don't want you to leave. You'd get hurt."
"Even if I promise I'll stay?" Ashton just wanted more freedom, even if it was only inside the apartment.
"You can't make promises you can't keep." Luke shook his head, but seemed to consider it.
"I'd keep it. You can lock the front door and take all the keys. You can lock anything in the basement, just please?" Ashton looked at the blonde with big eyes.
Luke bit his lower lip, trying to resist looking at the other boy, but he couldn't. He was too infatuated with him to resist him. "You'd really promise?"
Ashton felt hope ignite in him, but he didn't show it. If he did anything that could be considered as weird, he wouldn't get left alone without being stuck in the bedroom. "Yes."
"And you'll do what? Watch TV here?"
"I guess." Ashton shrugged. It wasn't like he could do much else. "Oh, or I could read a book?"
"And you promise?" Luke pressed, looking at the curly haired boy with uncertainty.
Ashton simply gave him a reassuring smile. "I promise."
Luke seemed to relax. "Okay."
"Thank you!" Ashton jumped from the stool, hugging Luke tightly. Both boys were surprised by the action, but Luke didn't mind. And maybe, Ashton didn't mind so much either. After all, he was allowed to roam through the house now.
"I'm going to get my bag then and leave." Luke announced once Ashton had let him go.
"I'll put our dishes away." Ashton said happily. He couldn't get it through that he was coming this far. Maybe a day more and he could go outside. He'd probably be handcuffed to Luke's side or something, but he could sign something to someone for sure and everything would be okay.
