The Demon Hunter

Chapter 1

Charlotte's P.O.V

I left the house and headed to the bus stop. I hated the first day of school after summer. I hated getting used to all the stupid rules and the new year 7. The thing I hated the most though was defiantly getting up early. I would like to go back to bed and sleep all day. I kept thinking of a way I could skip and just stay home. I did try and fake ill before my mum left for work but she didn't buy it. I sighed and got on the bus.

I walked up to the dingy little building that had somehow passed as a school. The place was falling apart and was clearly to dangerous for teenagers to be in all day. The forest beside it made it look much smaller than it actually was. I liked it though as I could go up there a lot. Everyone else would be too scared to go up there so me and Sam could escape form the horror that is our school. I walked up the steps and saw Sam. I ran up to him and hugged him. I realised that he still had the same jacket from last year that I had got for his birthday. He hugged me back. When I looked up at him I saw his dark brown eyes were fixed on me.

"Hi Sammy!" I said.

"There's a new guy Charlotte. He's so weird. You have to come and see him." He said.

He grabbed my arm and pulled me behind him. He pulled me to the back of the school and pointed to a guy in a grey hoodie sitting at the edge of the field. Its boiling out and his wearing a hoodie? I do try not to judge people but it sometimes happens.

"He's strange isn't he?" Sam said.

"He's a bit creepy." I said staring.

As I stared his head rose and he looked back at me. I quickly stopped staring and walked away but Sam caught up to me.

"Where are you off to?" He asked.

"For a walk." I said.

"We have Maths first lesson though."

"Exactly, I'll be back by break time."

He laughed and let me go. I loved how he knew me so well and how much I hated maths. I walked out of the school gates and into the forest. I looked for the hill that I would sit on with Sam and make fun of teachers.

I climbed up a few rocks and through low hanging branches. I looked up and saw birds flying above my head. They chirped as they flew into the distance. I finally gave up on looking for the hill and decided to climb the tree that was in front of me. I got quite far away from the school and sat down on a branch. It was still very early and the sky was full of different colours. It was so pretty. I heard something crack on the ground. I looked down but couldn't see anything.

"You shouldn't be out here by yourself, it's dangerous." Someone said.

I looked again but still couldn't see anyone. I climbed back down the tree and walked back to school looking around. My hands started to shake. I didn't know what to do. I heard footsteps behind me and stopped.

"What do you want?" I asked.

I turned around and managed to see a shadow coming towards me. I stepped back slowly not knowing if this person was the dangerous one. He continued to walk towards me and I could see bits of a grey hoodie. It was that weird kid from school. What? Did he follow me here? I don't think I want to know why he did.

"Why are you here, were you following me." I shouted.

He stopped walking and looked at me. He pushed down his hood and I saw his eyes. I noticed that he had very bright blue eye. I also noticed his black hair that was sticking up in all directions.

"I think you should get back to school. It's dangerous out here." He said.

I didn't know why but I trusted him when he said this and ran back to school. What the hell was he doing there? What was he on about? What's so dangerous? There's nothing dangerous up there is there? I would know.

I got back to the school gates and walked inside. I saw Sam waiting at the front of the building. As I walked up to him he gave me a sandwich.

"Thanks Sam, I gotta talk to you. Someone followed me up to the forest." I said.
