It was a battle to keep my eyes opened and I didn't know why. One minute, I'm sitting at my desk- wide awake- working on my Spanish homework, and the next, I'm feeling as though I ran a marathon. It doesn't make any sense. I took a nap an hour ago... so why did I feel so tired?

A faint yawn escaped from my lips, and I couldn't help but dip my head a little in the air. Maybe a few moments of resting my eyes would suffice...

But just as I closed my eyes, a loud shout pierced the air, causing them to shoot open.

"Kids! Dinner's ready!"

Ugh, mom. She and dinner could wait, especially the latter. I had 2 slices of pizza right before the nap so I wasn't really hungry.

Unconsciously, I lowered my arms and folded them on the desk, placing my head down as I did so. When my head found itself a temporary pillow, a new wave of drowsiness washed over me from head to toe. My eyes strained even more to remain open, but in the end, they surrendered to the heavy feeling. And it wasn't long before the darkness settled in.
