It was only then did I realize the danger I was in. My life wasn't the only one on the line anymore; his was too. I didn't only have to worry about my safety, I had to worry about his too. Would I have ever expected this to ever happen? No, only in nightmares, but never in reality. But why did this nightmare have to invade my consciousness as well as my unconsciousness?! It just wasn't fair.
If anyone a couple of months ago had ever told me that I would be in this kind of situation, I would've probably called them batshit crazy. 'This would've never happen. Could never happen' I would tell them, 'These things are improbable, dreams can't become reality, and ESPECIALLY not nightmares.'
But here I was, in the spitting image of the things that make me wake up screaming, but I was haunted by the fact that I wasn't asleep right now. This IS reality.
