We ventured throughout the science museum, talking over various topics and personal interests. I'd take my time to drown out everything else, only to stare at him.
How could he be so precise at perfection?
I couldn't block out his words, I had to listen to all of them. Hearing his voice gave me joy.
After God knows how long, we had to make our way back to the bus. We sat across from each other as usual, but the energy between us was alive. We were living. Something was awfully special about him.
Jake smiled at me from across the other side of the bus. I grinned back, a way of sarcasm, for the fact I don't genuinely smile infront of others. I was meant to be unbreakable.

We both adjusted to this difference as time went on. Both of us would even meet up during the week, texting each other and visiting once in a while.
Each time I would see him I couldn't help myself. I had to watch him. I couldn't take my eyes off of him. Why? It catches me out of thought sometimes. I can't let my guard down.
Knowing that I'm getting closer to Jake is optimal.

"You want a hand with that?"
"I'll be fine on my own, thank you." Jake replied as he tried his best to balance the fourth cup between his arm and his stomach.
"At least get a tray, come on."
"No, I refuse." He insisted, placing one of them in front of me.
"Can I trust you enough to know tha-"
"That would be a hysterical question. When have you not trusted me? I'm Jake English."
"Idiot, you should've let me finish."
"Awe shucks, my apologies, continue your interrogation my fine gentleman." He smirked, holding the edge of his cup to his lips.
I blinked behind my dark glasses, keeping my eyes from his lips. Instead I kept my gaze focused on the rest of his face, traveling to his eyes.
"Nope, no point now. You've ruined it."
"Me? Why me?"
"Who else?"
He scoffed, "You and your stupidity."
"If anything you're stupid."
"Just drink your coffee, Dirk."
He left it at that, and I didn't respond.

We'd been friends for 7 months. It was as if both of us were supposed to meet one another. He and I would talk everyday, either virtually or face to face.

I continued drinking my coffee, watching him type away on his phone, the edge of the cup between his teeth. He would sip it once every few moments, but he seemed engulfed in whatever he was doing.
"Whatcha got in your hands there, English?"
"Hm?" He looked up at me, almost tipping his coffee over.
"You seem busy there, who you talkin' to?"
I grinned as a gesture, and he seemed slightly flustered.
"I'm not talking to anyone, Strider."
He paused, turning off his device and placing it next to his cup on the table.
"I just happen to be writing."
"About what?"
"I don't honestly know, whatever comes to mind."
"Seems interesting."
"How so?"
"Do you find yourself as a good author?"
"I'm not sure. I don't look for opinions on my work."
"I'm surprised you didn't fuss about how I dodged your question."
"I noticed."
Relaxing my muscles, I held my cup between my hands. This was perfect. These moments were what I treasured most.
"You're so adorable." I mumbled.
"What?" He gave me a look of curiosity and slight confusion.
"What? Oh, nothing." I felt my heart begin to pick up speed, but I forced the feeling down my throat. I'm so insane. He didn't hear it, right? Hopefully he didn't. If he did, things could all go downhill.
"I definitely heard something."
"Mustn't have been from me, then." I covered up, keeping my face straight.
(unlike your sexuality pffbtd)
"Oh," He got quiet, eventually standing from his chair.
"I want to talk to you."
"Weren't we speaking just now?"
"Yes, but, not here."
"Oh, alrighty then."
I followed him out of the shop, and he'd left the last two cups untouched, still back at the table we sat at. He was going to bring them to our other acquaintances, Roxy and Jane. They'd been out together for around 3 months, and they're definitely happy about their relationship.

"Are you going to leave tho-"
"Silence."
"What?"
"Silence."
He didn't stop walking, and I still stayed alongside him.
We approached a trail that began near the public edge of the woods.
"I'm confused."
"I thought you were Dirk."
"You piss me off sometimes."
"Not like you don't do the same."
"Are we going to have a fight?"
"No, why would we fight if we just got together?"
"What?"
He turned, glaring at me.
"I love you, Dirk."
I didn't make a sound. I felt as if the air that filled my lungs was replaced with nothing. He searched my face for some sort of emotion. I couldn't do anything.
A tint of anger flew across his face.
"Are you just going to stand there? Or are you going to give me a response?"
I opened my mouth to speak, but all that came out was a struggled crack.
He now looked concerned.
"Dirk? Can you breathe?" Jake put his hands on my shoulders, throwing his gaze around my motionless body.
I brought him to me slowly, my arms clinging his sides.
"I love you too."
The words were almost silent into his ear. Feeling the sides of his face pull back as he smiled made me feel whole.
"I love everything about you." I continued.
"Your face when I catch you off guard, the way your hair curls back the slightest way along with your mouth when you see me. Watching your lips move when you speak, wishing to hold you close one day. Your chuckle is heaven to me. Your voice is heaven to me. You're heaven to me." I wanted to add more, but his smile faded as I went on, and I became worried.
"I'm sorry." I finished, pulling away.
The look on his face broke me.
He was crying.
"D- Dirk," He stepped back to me, grabbing my loose jacket. He blinked, breaking the tears from his eyes. I watched as they trailed down his face.
He rose to my height on his toes, connecting our lips harshly. He spilled all of his emotions into me. It was as if he was crying into my lips with all of the love he wanted me to have, but he knew it wasn't enough. Neither one of us would break away. Eventually he forced himself away from me, staring down at the ground as he huffed for more oxygen.
My breath wouldn't steady itself, but I wouldn't leave him there. My hand pushed up his chin.
"By the way, I called you adorable back in the shop. I'm sorry for lying to you."
A soft smile reached over his face, tears glistening in his eyes.

"Please stay with me."
"Forever."
