When the alarm clock beside my bed blared loudly, cutting through my sleep, I rolled over, looked at the little devil and groaned. It was time to get up and get ready for school. I forced my tired body out of bed and into the bathroom. After brushing my teeth and hair I looked down at my clothes. I really didn't want to change. I was too tired to care, and besides I had cheer practice after school. The most I managed to do with my appearance was straighten my hair and apply a little makeup. I slipped on my shoes from last night and began grabbing the things I would need for the day, including my clothes for work tonight. As I gathered my cheer bag, and back pack I called down the hall to Dimitri. "Can you drop me off at work after practice today?" His reply came instantly. "Yeah, sure thing!" The response was muffled since he was in his bedroom, but I was still able to hear it anyways.
"Can you keep it down? I'm dying!" Connor moaned from the couch. "You shouldn't have drank so much!" I yelled back and chuckled when I heard his pain filled "Ow." Someone had a headache this morning. Serves him right for dragging me out of bed for no reason.
Even though Connor was seriously hung over I made him take a shower in Dimitri's bathroom and get ready for school. While Dimitri had gotten Connor into the car last night I grabbed him some clothes from his room. "You''re evil!" Connor complained from the back seat of Dimitri's car as we rode to school. "Dimitri, tell her she's evil." I looked over at Dimitri with a raised eyebrow. He was shaking his head and smiling. "Dude, that's not what you were saying to her last night." He looked over at me and winked. I buried my face in my hands. I so did not need a reminder of Connor's drunken infatuation.
"What did I say?" Connor asked sounding nervous. "I'll tell you later." Dimitri promised as we pulled into the parking lot of Cold Creek High. Connor drug himself out of the car and headed for the entrance while I went to the trunk to grab my things. I banged my head on the trunk door when Dimitri appeared beside me. "What time do you have to be at work?"
"Six" I reminded him as I rubbed the sore spot on my head. "Do you need me to pick you up when you get off?" I shook my head. " No, Jacob is picking me up and taking me home tonight, thanks though."
Dimitri rolled his eyes at the mention of Jacobs name. "Seriously, why are you dating that douche?" Dimitri asked as we walked to the school doors.
"He loves me, and I love him." Dimitri made a gagging sound. Dimitri and Jacob, my boyfriend of three years, didn't get along. Jacob was a swimmer and Dimitri a football player. They ran with the same circle of friends since they were both popular and used to get along, but since I moved in with Dimitri, things between them were not sunshine and rainbows. "See you in class Lex." Dimitri said as he hurried off somewhere that was not the school entrance.
The bell rang for first period just as I shut my locker. I pulled my back pack onto one shoulder and hurried off to my science class, Biology. I quickly took my seat in the back beside Shelby, my best friend, and cheer buddy. She was considered beautiful, and she was with long red hair, the natural kind, that fell in waves of fire down her back. Her eyes were big and blue, and her skin was absolutely flawless. Those blue eyes raked over my appearance. "Girl, even with the little effort you took, I can still tell you didn't sleep at all last night." She leaned in close and dropped her voice to a whisper. "Did you get it on with Dimitri last night?" Shelby asked as she wiggled her eyebrows.
I shook my head. "No! I have a boyfriend, remember?" Shelby sighed. "I don't see how you can stand him Lexie Lou." She said calling me by the nickname she gave me years ago. "He's cute and all, but he's boring."
I rolled my eyes. "He's boring to you. Not me." Shelby shrugged, but didn't give up. "If you didn't have wild, kinky sex, then why do you look like you didn't sleep last night?"
