'Come on sleepyhead' Kyle's husky chuckle made me shiver.

'Just 5 more minutes dad.' I mumbled still half asleep.

Kyle barked a laugh and placed his lips against Amelia's she savoured the moment for a little while, slowly opening her eyes.

'Are you ready?' he whispered.

'Yes I'm ready. What are we doing first?' She took his hand, already outstretched and waiting for her touch.

'Well, I thought we could have something to eat because I'm so hungry. There's a fancy restaurant around here somewhere.  I know the manager so he'll let us in, even with what we're wearing.' He grinned.

Amelia felt uncomfortable. She wasn't like other girls. She didn't need money to make me happy. Just someone, willing to love her and spend time with her, because they couldn't be without her, because they liked having her around.

'Actually Kyle, If you don't mind I'd like to go to a diner or something. I could really do with a bacon cheeseburger. I mean a fancy restaurant is awesome and all. It's just not me. I'd probably, trip, or say the wrong thing.'

Two spots of pink appeared on her cheeks and Kyle grinned. He'd never taken out a woman who didn't want some fancy gesture. They all expected high class restaurants, diamonds and champagne. Truth be told, he hated champagne and he felt out of place at fancy restaurants. Always preferring hanging out at a diner with Nick.

'Don't be embarrassed Amy. It's an awesome idea, I hate fancy restaurants.'

'Excellent. Let's go.' Kyle watched in amazement as Amelia dashed off. Her auburn hair flying out from beneath her hat, a huge smile on her face. She was like a butterfly, just waiting to open it's wings. How could she be so alone all the time?

Last night she had been candidly honest regarding her life, she had little or no friends whilst at school and college, always afraid of getting close to anyone after the daily beatings handed out by Bethany, and spent the last few years juggling online courses, work and helping her ailing father. Not once did she complain, just said it exactly how it was.

Kyle chuckled and ran after her, catching her around the middle making her shriek with laughter. He still held her as he pushed open the door of the diner. To anyone else they looked like any other couple in love. Both young and carefree. Both oblivious of the secret looks they threw whenever the other was looking.

'You're an amazing friend.' Kyle said as they waited for their order.

Amelia's heart sank, she expected this of course she did, no matter how carefree he was at the moment. He would never show an interest in her whilst sober, except for a few kisses here and there. She was a nobody and he was this amazing hot shot publisher that occasionally enjoyed having sex with beautiful, skinny blondes.

'Thank you Kyle. I'm happy to be your friend.'

Kyle watched as Amelia's smile slipped. He said the wrong thing. He knew he did.

'Ok so I thought we could go and see a movie. Now I know that we both have an unhealthy obsession with Adam Sandler, so you wanna go see Grown Ups 2.'

'Do I ever? Let's go. Race you' Kyle chuckled and chased after her, damn that girl could move fast.

****************

'Ok so your turn' Amelia whispered.

'Ok let me take a big sip.' Kyle bought the straw to his lips and sucked the coke up the straw, 'Ok, ok I'm ready. This will definitely beat yours Barney.' Kyle felt the familiar bubbling within his belly and let out the burp he held in. In the packed cinema and in one of the silent parts of the film, the timing was perfect.

Amelia chuckled as the group in front of them jumped in their seats, turning to look at the culprit, similar looks of disgust on their faces. She clutched her belly and laughed and turned to high five Kyle.

'Awesome' Amelia chuckled.

'I do not feel like a 26 year old right now.' Kyle chuckled 'or CEO, for that matter.'

'I know it's amazing isn't it. I used to play this with my father, whenever he felt I needed to laugh. Naturally toilet humour was the way forward. I, naturally, am the reining champion. Laughing is great for the soul.'

'We'll keep this our secret, ok. I don't need my employees to know I'm part pig?' Kyle chuckled as he drove.

'One more thing I want to do today, well tonight now' he pulled into a packed parking lot.

As they neared the door to the venue, Amelia wrapped her arms around Kyle's neck. 'A Paramore concert. Really Kyle. Thank you.'

'You're welcome. Come on we're going through this way.' He nodded to the bouncer on the door 'I know the guy that owns this place.'

*******************

'Thank you Kyle, I had the best day. The funeral is tomorrow. I'll be in work the day after.'

'Are you going to be ok/ Do you need me to come with you?' Kyle asked worried.

'You already took today off. I would love to have your company, but I know you'll be needed at work. I'll be fine. I promise. But thank you all the same.'

'Ok, here. Call me, if you need me.' He pulled her phone out of her jeans pocket and typed in his number. He called himself from her phone and saved her number as Barney.

'Ok. I better go.' Amelia set her hand on the car door. Shooting Kyle one last glance, before she rushed over to the crumbling mess she called home.

'Amelia wait.' Kyle's footsteps pounded on the concrete behind her.

Whirling round to face him she asked 'Did I leave something in your c...'

*************

Kyle watched as she walked away, throwing open the car door he ran after her, calling out and catching her by the wrist. He pulled her up to his chest and covered her lips with his own, letting his tongue slip into her mouth to tangle with her own.

'I had the best day. It was nice to be normal. Just for a day, with someone who wants to be around me and not because I can give you diamonds and champagne.'

'You're the best Kyle. I had the best time. I haven't laughed so much for such a long time oh and I prefer sapphires or emeralds and cheap white wine.'

He chuckled, she really was one of a kind, she kept surprising him 'Me either. I'll see you back at work the day after tomorrow. Bye Amy.' Kyle placed one last kiss to her lips before watching her walk away.

Oh man was he in trouble.
