"Mr. Lyen, I highly doubt that was necessary!" exclaimed Mrs. Barret. The young but impossibly strict teacher was covered head to toe in earthworms. Slimy, dirty earthworms that had been dug out of the soil just this morning.
"Sorry, Mrs. Barret..." Landi slumped his shoulders and trudged off to the principal's office. And, already knowing what was to come next, turned around just in time to see to hear his teacher rage on about punishments.
"That'll be in-school suspension for tomorrow, Mr. Lyen! And detention for the rest of this week!"
"But Mrs. Barret-" he protested monotonously, for this response was just another part of their routine.
"No buts! Go to the office immediately!" She sniffed, then resumed lecturing the rest of science class, leaving Landi to storm halfway across school until he reached the office.

It was a sunny day out, and in the mid-sixties, so Amar sat on a bench outside to eat his lunch: a turkey sandwich with provolone cheese and mayonnaise on a part of a French baguette, potato chips, and a bag of baby carrots. Seems like pretty normal lunch, but it's the only food he ate since yesterday morning. He was soon joined as someone jogged over to join him.
"Hey, man. What's up?" Landi plopped down on the bench with a suspicious-looking brown sack.
"What's up is that weird bag..." Amar leaned away from Landi, afraid of the mysterious contents.
"Chill, Amar! I won't be using these on you. And they aren't anything dangerous! Just pink slips leftover from every time I ever got I trouble with Barret." Amar peered in the bag, which was, indeed, filled to the brim with pink slips.
"And what are you using them for?" Amar asked.
"Oh, nothing much." He grinned mischievously, "Just going to stick them all over Barret's room! There won't be an inch of wall that's not pink!"
"Wow," Amar stated plainly. He didn't want to see Landi get expelled, which might just happen after recently coming back to school from a week long out-of-school suspension... "That prank definitely has your name all over it!" He admitted. "But you don't want to get in even more trouble! Mrs. Barret already-"
"Yeah, yeah. Like I care what she thinks!" the practical joker scoffed.
Amar sighed in defeat and got up from the bench."Alright, Landi, but be careful!" warning his friend as he threw away his trash.
"See you later." Landi waved, stuffing down the remains of the triple chocolate chip brownie Amar shared with him.

"Um, Mrs. Barret?" Amar knocked on the door nervously. He was starting to wonder if she was even there when she finally responded.
"Yes, Andrew? What do you want?"
"It's Amar, actually, and I just want to make sure you lock this classroom's door and windows tonight, because someone is going to mess up your classroom soon."
Amar repeated himself three times before she processed this. "And how exactly do you know this, Amar?"
"Uh, I...I just do, so I just wanted to let you know that you should keep your classroom safe for the next few days, because I don't have the details."
His science teacher looked stunned, as if she couldn't understand why he would warn her. Amar had never seen this expression on Mrs. Barret's face before.
"Oh, okay then. Thank you."
And Amar exited the classroom and rode his bike home in the rain, seeing earthworms in the mud beside him. Sure hope Landi doesn't find out I told.
