Chapter 9: Again

          Steven's POV

      Its Jess! She's back! I can't believe it! I scream in my head as we run after our long lost friend. Downer Steven steps in though. What are you doing? She is a TRAITOR!! She left you and everyone else for her own selfish reasons! Let. Her. Die.

      HOLD UP. DIE?? She wouldn't, right? She- she knows not to. Right? I run faster, forcing myself past my limits until I feel my feet rise from the ground. I keep my pace as a mountain becomes more pronounced. It only takes a few seconds to reach it with my new panic, when another emotion jumps in.

      It breaks my concentration and sends me spiraling into the ground a few feet from the ledge. A few feet from my best friend, who was tipping off the edge.

            Aphmau's POV

        I hear someone crash behind me, but I don't turn to look. My mind has been clouded by the pain and betrayal. The reasonable part of my mind screams at me, but it feels a hundred miles away as I put my right foot out and lean.

          Someone screams while another moans in agony, but I don't care. I'm to encompassed with the feeling of falling. Wind rushes beside me reminding me of home. My wings itch to jump out, to save me as the ground reaches for me. Closer. Closer. Goodby- huh?

         I feel arms wrap around me, flipping me around to that their wings take the impact of the fall. Wait... wings? Oh no. Oh no oh no oh no! It can't be Jin! I struggle but he holds my tightly, soon to be joined by Sky and Barney, grabbing me so that I can't escape, and even Steven and Sly. It felt... soothing? It felt genuine and loving. It felt, well, good.

         They're fake. Something whispers to me.

         "Huh?" I reply in my head, my thoughts all pointing to it at once.

         They are going to take you and pretend to love you. They want your power. Why do you think they all let you stick around for so long, even after they knew you where a hybrid. It tells me in a warning but concerned tone. That's what happened to me, don't let them fool you. I want to save you from that hurt. Trust me.

          It makes sense, half of my mind told me, but it wasn't very powerful because the other half recognized that voice. When I fit it together the answer chilled me to the bone. I wouldn't have control much longer, so with my last strength I screamed,

                 

                              "FATHER!!"
