Strawberry Lemonade

Chapter 1: Change

Scarlet had been in her dads truck for hours as they drove to the city. The country music was playing dimly as her sister Katie talked to herself while playing with dolls. Scarlet rolled her eyes and put her earbuds in while staring out the window. Scarlet kept thinking,
'Why did we have to move?'
She asked her dad earlier but he said it was complicated and she wouldn't understand. She was 18 and he was only 41! Scarlet understood everything perfectly well!
Their truck glided across the highway as the city came into view on the horizon. Finally they were close! Scarlet felt butterflies in her stomach as they drove closer. This was the beginning of her new journey!....her father said it would be fun....she was extremely nervous and not happy or excited!
About 30 minutes later their truck slowly pulled to the curb and stopped.
Scarlets dad hopped out,Katie and Scarlet following him out of the truck.
Scarlet looked up at the apartment building and turned to her dad,
"You said the house was going to be awesome, not some run down apartment complex!"
Her dad smiled,
"Scarlet. You can have the biggest room you like."
Katie yowled,
"Can I stay with Scarlet in her room?!"
Scarlet and her dad yelled in unison,
"NO!"
Katie pouted.
Scarlet,Katie, and their dad went inside the apartment complex and went to the top floor with the keys to the new apartment. They opened the door to a small kitchen and living room combined and three doors across the room and one near the kitchen.
Scarlet gapped at the small space. Their farm was even bigger than this! How could her father had just sold a large land for a small crummy apartment!? This was a new beginning as her dad would say...Everything had to change soon, She hoped.
