All the first years were escorted into what was known as The Great Hall. There were four different tables, one for each house. I hoped to get Gryffindor like my parents and Remus. The first names were called and I patiently waited for mine.
"Lupin, Delilah!" I walked up and the hat was placed on me. It gasped. Everyone turned and looked.
"You truly are alive. Raised by your god father away from you family you've known for a long time what would happen when you came. Well then, to honor them, GRYFFINDOR!" The hat shouted. I was so relieved to sit down at the table.
"Malfoy, Draco!" I looked and saw the boy from the train. The hat had barely touched his head when it shouted his house.
"SLYTHERIN!" I watched him proudly walk to the Slytherin table. A few more names were called until I heard,
"Potter, Harry!" My brother had been called. He walked up and the hat fell on his head. I saw him mutter, "not Slytherin." The hat pondered before shouting,
"GRYFFINDOR!" Relief fell through me now that I knew I could get closer to my brother. He came and sat in front of me. Many Gryffindors had started chanting, "We got Potter." I saw Harry looked upset.
"What's wrong Harry?" I asked.
"I feel... Empty. Like I'm only half of myself."
"Why?"
"I learned today I had a twin. She died the night you know who came and tried to kill me. I shouldn't be here without her. I know I don't know her and I never will, but I want her to be here, sitting with me." I grabbed his hand.
"Even though she's gone, she'll always be with you. Spirits tend to follow loved ones. She's probably sitting here with you listening to you. If I were her I'd tell you to keep your head high, and that she'll always be close by." The funny thing is that was the truth. I'll be close by and I'll always be there.
"Thank you Delilah."
"Weasley, Ronald!" I turned quickly to see Ron up front.
"Delilah what's that on your neck?" Harry asked. I quickly covered my scar with my hair.
"While I was in my animanigus form I got a cut and it's scarred there. It's not pretty so I hide it."
"I could have sworn it was in the shape of a..."
"It's just a long line. There's no shape to it."
"Okay." He said and turned as the hat sent Ron to Gryffindor. He almost saw my scar. I was almost given away. I made sure through out the feast my scar was covered and I could tell Harry thought something was wrong.
