Silence filled the room. Not a single word was exchanged between any single breathing creature within the area. Only silence.

They surrounded the bed, eyes piercing the body that lay upon it. Was she dead? Was she breathing? The Inquisitor could not have been offed that fast could she have been? Every one stood fixated upon the still body of Evalleen. The only person whom didn't have their eyes on the poor elf was the Commander. Of course, he had not gained news of the Inquisitor's state, for he was commanding troops out in battle. But you can be damn sure that once he took a single step into Skyhold, this man had received word of the beloved saviors state of being.

Without a single moment of hesitation, Cullen had raced his way to Evalleen's quarters, just to find that she had indeed awoken. He honestly had never felt more relieved in his life. Slowly, taking small steps ahead of himself, Cullen made his way over to the side of Evalleen's bed. She looked dead. Non-existent. Her mind was lost somewhere in the fade from the stares she gave. Her skin was a lighter shade than usual. Little cuts covered almost every inch of her body. Evalleen was like a walking corpse. It was almost as if her soul had been ripped right out of her body.

"Evalleen..? Dear..? I... I am sorry I did not arrive sooner. I had not heard of your state until I got ba-"

Before he could finish his sentence, Evalleen had turned her head to face him, eyebrows furrowed in confusion.

"... Who... Who are you..?" She questioned, her features now turning to an angered look of confusion.

Cullen could hear the sound of his own heart shattering. It was like tiny pieces of glass were slowly cutting away at his heart, second by second. Did she... Really not remember him at all? Was the damage done to her that critical? There had to be some way to fix her because there was no telling if he could even gain her heart back. Oh maker... He really had to try his best to pretend that every thing was alright.

"Oh uh... I am the Commander here. We uh... We don't speak very often. My name is Cullen. Sorry to have just uh- Barged in like that. It was quite inconsiderate of me to do such a thing to you. I just needed to see the current state you were in. I... I think I will take my leave now."

This was it, wasn't it? After all they had been through... All of it just washed away like that. It was unbelievable. How could life play others this way?

As the Commander began to head out, he slowly turned his head a little to the side, trying to catch a small glimpse of the Inquisitor. All the memories they shared... He could still see them all every time he looked at her, and it hurt him beyond comprehension. To fall in love so quickly and then lose the person in the blink of an eye. Cullen just could not believe it.

Quickly, the commander gained his composure and ran down the stairs to exit the Inquisitor's quarters.

--

Things had started to slowly grow back into a routine after about a week from Evalleen's incident. Evalleen continued on with her normal duties as Inquisitor. Cullen continued his work with the troops. But the poor man could not stand to stay in the same general area as her. It would slowly rip him apart even more, every time he laid his eyes upon her. Even for them to discuss things at the war table, Cullen would find himself falling away from the reality before himself. His mind would fill with many ideas on how he had hoped for their future to have gone. Sadly though, there was a possibility that this dream would never take off. The poor Commander could never win. Never...

---

One day, as Cassandra and Evalleen discussed different topics, a faint voice was heard off in the distance. Evalleen froze as the voice began to fall closer and closer to their current spot. Where the hell had she heard this song?

"I'll swim and sail on savage seas, with never a fear of drowning..."

The voice, the song. She knew it from somewhere... But where from?

Out of pure curiosity, the elven mage turned to see where the voice had come from. Closer and closer the voice called.

"... And gladly ride the waves of life if you would marry me..."

Evalleen's eyes stopped right on the Commander's walking form... And that was exactly when it struck the Inquisitor. She continued to listen in, a small smile curling upon her lips.

"No scorching sun nor freezing cold will stop me on my journey if you will promise me your heart... And love--"

Commander Cullen and herself. They were more than just two leaders talking battle plans. They had been lovers. They had once shared a love that not a single soul seemed to possess. It was all falling into place. This song was their song, and she would rather damn herself to the fade than allow this man to sing alone. Especially a song such as this.

As the commander had started to sing the next part, he was quickly cut off by the sound of Evalleen's voice.

"And love me for eternity..."

Upon hearing her voice, Cullen's head popped up to stare upon her. She was remembering him, wasn't she? The two stared at one another, a loving look left in both of their gazes. Their bodies were still in motion, causing them to head for one another slowly.

"My dearest one, my darling dear... Your mighty words astound me. But I've no need for mighty deeds when I feel your arms around me."

They had inched closer and closer to one another, but there was still quite a distance before the two of them. Naturally, theh continued to sing the parts they usually sang, smiles forming, and past memories floating around in their minds.

"But I would bring you rings of gold. I'd even sing you poetry and I would keep you from all harm, if you would stay beside me." Cullen began to quicken the tempo of what they sang, making the song a lot more upbeat for the two of them.

"I have no use for rings of gold. I care not for your poetry. I only want your hand to hold... I only want you near me."

Soon, the two had reached one another, Evalleen giggling like crazy as Cullen and her grabbed each others hands and began to dance and sing together. It was a beautiful sight to be given out.

"To love and kiss to sweetly hold. For the dancing and the dreaming. Through all life's sorrows and delights, I'll keep your laugh inside me. I'll swim and sail a savage seas. With never a fear of drowning. I'd gladly ride the waves so white. And you will marry me!"

As the two finished, they were laughing, and smiling more than they ever had in quite a long time. It was amazing to see the impact that the two place on one another's life. The love and compassion... It was so unreal. Their love was almost too good to be true.

Slowly, as they tried to regain their breath, they leaned their foreheads together. Cullen's arms slowly reached around Evalleen's tiny body as she tried to slip her arms around his neck.

"Evalleen... I honestly thought I lost you forever. I did not believe I was going to gain a second chance wi--"

Before the commander could continue speaking, his lips were met by Evalleen's. It was almost as if they were sharing their first kiss.

As Evalleen pulled away, she began to whisper, "Cullen... You will never lose me, no matter what may happen. I love you..."

"And Evalleen, I love you." Cullen replied with a warm look claiming his features.
