Kael sat by the boat window thinking of her, Xella. He looked bored to everyone. He was looking into the blue body of the sea. It was all around. Above, below, left, right, everywhere. A lion fish was swimming by; it had looked at Kael and then swam in the other direction in a faster motion.
"Nice day isn't it?" Said a man who looked like he was in his mid twenties, Kael jumped at the voice until he realized it was someone he already knew.
"What's up Louey."
It had only been a day and he'd already made a new friend. They became friends over the fact that they were both into music. Kael brought his violin and Louey brought his guitar.
"Wanna play a song K?"
"Yeah sure. Maybe it'll take the edge off my missing loved one." Kael was extremely proper. He sat up straight, clasped his hands together, and his Raven black hair was slicked back in a business sort of fashion.
He walked over to his chair and lifted up the top, revealing his violin. He opened the case and closed it, bow and violin in hand. "What song shall we play?"
"I don't know. Do you want to write a song?" Louey asked.
"That could be fun. Let us see what we come up with." Kael started by playing a G. "Lovely isn't it?" Louey nodded. "Play an A flat." Louey did as Kael asked and played the cord. Already they were making music. The violin cords changed while the guitar strings stayed the same. It sounded beautiful.
Soon Kael stopped moving his fingers and Louey began playing a series of cords to Kael's one cord. "Beautiful. Now together." Louey's fingers moved along the neck of his Acoustic and music was being made. Kael looked out into the ocean and started singing a song. He'd never heard it before but suspected it was an old Indian song that he'd known was in his soul.
🎵I see your crystal eyes looking straight through me. I know you can see me from the great beyond. I can hear your whispers in my ears. 🎵
🎵 The beckoning of your voice it draws me near. I wanna swim out in the open and sink down to the bottom. Swimming with the mermaids still breathing. 🎵
🎵I wanna be in the fantasy so you'll remember me 🎵
🎵and I wanna be a memory forever🎵
Kael slowed down the tempo,
🎵 and even after that. 🎵
It was a beautiful song that sounded beautiful the way he sung it.
Louey let his guitar fall around his shoulder and clapped. "Kael, where did you get that song from?"
Kael shrugged. "It just came to me. Why? Was it bad?"
"Hope you know I don't clap for bad songs." Louey said. His voice was broad, not quite matching his exterior of giving off the scruffy unemployed vibe.
"Louey tell me about yourself, I like to get to know my friends a bit."
"Well...my legal name is Lukas Louis Martin. I'm from New York. My plan is to travel around the world. Not really much to know. Really, this boat ride is just a minor set back."
"Where do you want to go?" Kael asked. "You know, specifically?"
"I've always wanted to go to Japan. I've always wanted to go there because the people there are so unique and completely different from Americans. Every culture is different but these people-man they are extraordinary."
"I went there."
"You have?" Louey shouted.
"Yeah. My mother took me there as a kid. It's just as you described it. Completely different. Warning, don't tip people in Japan. They will be upset, learned that the hard way. The Caribbean seems like it'll be beautiful, doesn't it?"
"Yeah." Louey still had his guitar slung over his back, then he took it off.
The dark, evil gray cumulus clouds turned peach and rosy as the sun set. It was almost sundown when the boats finally left. Right now, it looked like a freak storm was headed their way. The boat that Xella was on was far ahead but their boat was fairly, fairly behind. In the middle of the storm they were.
