The purge // ROWLANDS

Alex's POV-
5pm
Me and Lauren are awake and are getting ready. We're heading to the shops to stock up on food and see if we can get any sharper knifes to defend ourselves. Pretty basic but we can't really get guns around here. We are lucky to have a pistol each that's been upgraded about 2 times so it's now about grade3. I'm pretty sure half of the people around this place that are being part of the purge and are actually going to do illegal stuff do have guns that are below class 4... Class 3,2 and 1 are pretty harmful and could kill... I hate the purge.
I don't understand why everyone has to take part and why the government gets to stand back and watch people getting hurt while they are in complete safety. It's ridiculous. All I know is that I need to keep Alex safe under all costs, I can't let her or both of us go like our parents did. We can't just disappear one night. It's not going to happen.
I quickly check my phone to see the time : 5:45
We are back from the shops and are stocked up, fresh knives and everything. We have the sound of the news on the TV, awaiting for the deafening sound of the radar, telling us that everything is now legal... That people can now be your worst nightmare and do things to you that you can't stop. No one can.
This is all stupid.
6:14am
"Alex!!!! ALEX!!! I THINK I LEFT MY PHONE AT WHEREVER WE JUST WENT TO. I CANT FIND IT ANYWHERE ABD IF IT WAS HERE I WOULDVE FOUND IT BY NOW" Lauren shouted to me from her room.
"Are you sure? We can go there now but me need to be quick. Bring a few knives and a gun."
If we were going to go back into the dark roads, we needed to be prepared... Just incase someone tries to attack us before they're actually allowed to or if we get stuck.
Lauren and I grabbed our rucksacks and started sprinting, not sure of what's going to happen when we make it to the store.
