Evan's POV
We walked out into the garage. I saw a vehicle covered in a tarp to my surprise. I couldn't tell what it was underneath the tarp. Was it a Toyota? Was it a Volkswagen? Was it a GM? Was it a Ford Fiesta? I didn't know. I jumped um and down excitedly and smiled. I was so excited. I already had my Volkswagen Beetle and my brand-new Toyota. What could it be this time?
"Go ahead and open it" said my mom. "Okay" i said. I ran up to it and ripped off the tarp. Underneath was... a Volkswagen Beetle. It was red. My excitement faded like a rash that fades after a few weeks. Except it wasn't a rash so it faded in like 3 seconds. "Um mom?" I said. "What Evan" she said. "You don't like it?" "Um no" I said. I looked at her with a weird look. "It's just that I already have a car like this." My mom looked confused. "What are you talking about Evan?" I got even more confused. Did my mom go in a coma too? Maybe she did when she was sleep on the couch. Maybe that's why she forgot. I told her that. My mom looked confused. "No, Evan. You never had a Volkswagen Beetle. Only your bike and your skateboard and your mountain bike and your scooter and your pogo stick and your roller skates and your bike." "But I can drive!" I yelled. "Yeah, but when you do you gotta drive my SUV" she explained. I looked at the SUV next to my brand-new Volkswagen Beetle. It was some kind of dark blue color. The kind of color that makes you think it's black but it's not.
I was still really confused. "We always agreed that this is the car I get you for your 16th birthday." said my mom. My heart skipped a beat. "Wait... you mean... today is my 16th birthday?!" I yelled. My mom looked concerned at me. "Of course it is Evan. Maybe you need to go lay down for a while. That coma might've not worn off yet." I got angry. "NO" I yelled. "I already have a red Volksweagen Beetle! I already got it! And I already had my 17th and my 18th birthdays! Why did you play this prank on me?" I ran out of the garage tears running down my face. Why did my mom think it's funny to play a joke on me? It's not like it's April fool's day or something...
Igasped. "That's it" I said. "She just changed the date on myphone and cleaned my car and pretend I'm 16 again. It's really April 1!" Iran to my laptop and opened it. It said the same date: March 10. My birthday."She must've changed that too" I said. I went on Google and typed up"what date is it today". I took a deep breathe and hit the searchkey.
