He approached me with that look on his face. The look I adored, fantasized, and desired. The look that when I first saw, I knew, that he would be the one. Him, so perfect, oh, so amazing. How I strained to get closer to him but he slips away each time...
My eyes fall to the ground as he speaks to me. I hope, deep in his heart, he desires me as well. Confess, I silently hope, tell me now, that you love me.
“Rhea,” he speaks, his voice tense, “are you listening?”
“S-sorry,” I replied, directing my focus to him.
He rustles my hair, and points to the birds chirping outside of the window. His house, it seemed, had always attracted many blue-birds. “Look,” he begins, “Your favorite.”
I smile, and he looks deep into my eyes.
Matt’s eyes are a light blue, a soft, warm color, yet ferocious. Mine, however, are a boring mix of greens.
Sadly, I glance down at my watch. It’s time for me to go. Matt leans in, so close I swear he’s about to kiss me. Oh, his breath, minty, soothes my stress.
“See you tomorrow,” he whispers.
“Er, alright,” I reply, awkwardly gathering my backpack and my jacket.
That night I dream of Matt. I dream, such a perfect dream, I wake up to find tears on my pillow. I didn’t ever want that dream to end.
We were holding hands, and smiling, and he looked deep into my eyes as he did earlier in the day. This time, when he leans, we kiss, so passionately that the birds outside begin to sing. They sing a beautiful song which enhances the moment even more than it already is. Our mouths are interlocked for so long, that I rapidly pull away, gasping for air. He laughs, and I wrap my arms around his torso. Matt strokes my hair, and I begin to dose off, but before I wake up from the dream, he whispers, “I love you,” in a sweet, angelic voice that I’ll never forget.
The thought of Matt kills me that morning. I wished that that dream came true; that he would look into my eyes and tell me he loves me.
