Dan's P.O.V.

It's crazy when you think about it all. How all of this turned out for the better. How I could fall in love so easily but end up wanting to spend the rest of my life with that man. Everyone says love at first sight doesn't work. But for us, it really did.

Phil basically came out of nowhere and flipped everything around in my life. All I wanted to do was die. Every single day I would get up and hate myself. I would go to school and cry in the locker rooms until class would start. I'd be made fun of and bullied every day for every reason possible. I had no friends. Everyone thought I was just the weird emo with no soul. Well they were wrong. I did have a soul I just didn't wanna show it. I had no reason to.

I had no reason to be happy. All I did was go to school and go home. I'd cut my wrists whenever I felt sad and unwanted and useless. So basically every day.

I was so close to actually dying that day years ago. I was on the brink of death when Phil, my angel, came in and saved me from the kiss of death.

He swooped in with his big beautiful wings and saved me. He made me feel as if I was loved. And made me fall head over heels in love with him. And now, many years later, I was making the biggest commitment of my life to him.

~~~~~~~
It was a beautiful sunny but not hot day in Manchester. I was standing in the back room of the church, staring at my dressed up reflection. I was marrying my best friend today. I could barely think at the moment. My head was spinning in thousands of directions. My heart was being pulled all over the place but in the end, it knew exactly what it wanted.
All I could think about was what was going to happen after this. What the future had in store for us both. Would we get a child? If so, what would we name her? Tabitha probably. I've never been so happy.
I was shaken from my nerves by PJ and Chris at the door.
"Hey man, it's time. You ready for this?" "Yeah. Ready as I'll ever be guys."
I turned and followed them out of the room and into the chapel. I walked my way down the long narrow aisle and stood at the end. When I looked out, I saw all of my friends and family. They all had beautiful smiles plastered on their faces. The room was beautifully lit with white Christmas lights that made everyone light up.
I turned and smiled at PJ, my best man. He met Phil and I after we graduated at a coffee shop down town. We all hit it off instantly. We had so much in common that we all became close friends. He set up the entire wedding along wise his boyfriend Chris.
They did such a fantastic job with everything. It was like a fairytale type of wedding. Like the ones you see in wedding magazines or on tv. I was in love. But not as much in love as I was with Phil. I looked around some more and took everything in. That was when the music started playing. We all turned and stared down the aisle.
The flower girl, our adopted daughter Tabitha, started walking down the aisle. She carried a small basket of red and white rose petals. She would grab a small handful and toss them all over the place. She had the biggest and brightest smile on her face. We had the most beautiful baby girl in the world. She walked up and smiled at me before standing next to PJ.
And then, it was time for my baby. The one person who meant the world to me, other than Tabitha.
I looked up and saw him turn the corner and met his eyes. Once he saw me, his face lit up. He was the most beautiful man I'd ever seen. He walked down the aisle with such confidence. It radiated off of him with such grace. As he finally got to the Alter, We turned to the priest as he began to speak.
"We are gathered here today to bring together these two lovely men; Dan Howell and Phil Lester. Who gives this man to be married to this man?" My father stood up and took my hand and placed it on Phil's. He then turned and sat back down next to my mom.
"As Dan and Phil take their vows today, we are privileged to witness the joyous love of a new family -- a family that will be nourished and nurtured through the devotion of two separate individuals growing together through the common bonds of love.
May their marriage bring them the peace, joy, comfort and contentment that is known in the hearts of all God's children. And may Dan and Phil both look forward to each new season of their marriage --- just as the world looks forward to each new season of the year. For all seasons bring with them their own special moments and memories.
An essential requirement of a good marriage is a strong bond of real friendship and trust.
Dan and Phil, your love for each other will grow deeper with every passing day, but it's important to remember that your love stands on a foundation of genuine, mutual affection and respect for each other. To truly LOVE another person is to be willing to accept both their strong points, and their weak points, with equal measures of understanding and respect.
The vows you are about to exchange, will serve as a verbal representation of the non-verbal emotions that are as real as anything that can be seen, heard or touched.  For it is not the words that you will speak today that will bond you together as one --- but the strength of the love and commitment found deep within your souls. At this time, I'll ask you, Dan, and you, Phil, to face each other & take each other's hands."
We turned and took each other hands.
"Dan, will you take Phil to be your husband, your partner in life and your one true love? Will you cherish his friendship and love him today, tomorrow and forever? Will you trust and honor him, laugh with him and cry with him? Will you be faithful through good times and bad, in sickness and in health as long as you both shall live?"
He tried not crying as I said "I do."
"Phil, will you take Dan to be your husband, your partner in life and your one true love? Will you cherish his friendship and love him today, tomorrow and forever? Will you trust and honor him, laugh with him and cry with him? Will you be faithful through good times and bad, in sickness and in health as long as you both shall live?"
I could tell he was about to cry. "I do."
The priest continued.
"Are there any last words you two have to say to each other before I pronounce you husband and husband?"
I nodded and looked right at Phil.
I looked deep into his eyes and knew exactly what I was going to say.
"Best Friends For Life right?"
"Yeah, Best Friends For Life."
The priest just smiled before finishing.
"I now pronounce you man and husband. Dan, you may now kiss the husband."
We both leaned in and pressed our lips together in a beautiful kiss. It was like the very first time we kissed in my bedroom. Still full of sparks and lust. All the troubles just melted away without a care in the world.
"You are now Mr. And Mr. Lester. May your lives be full of love and wonder."
(Phil always wanted me to have his last name. He just loved it and so do I.)
Years ago when we made that pact to be best friend for life, we had no idea it would lead to all of this. And now, we're so blessed that it did.
Phil Lester saved me. And I saved his last name.
