"Don't tell your mother,
Kiss one another,
Die for each other..."The familiar song blasted through the speakers as hundreds of students danced to it. Disco lights. Sweaty bodies. Liquor. Drunk twenty and twenty one year olds. And again, liquor.
Eleanore sipped her fruit punch and sighed. She silently thanked Jess for keeping the fruit punch in her 'drinks' list.
She had never understood the point of late night parties. Why would anyone want to waste their precious time on something so utterly useless like this when they could do something productive. Granted, she was a social recluse, but even that hadn't saved her from attending this party. Jess was admant about her coming to her party.
Being an acquaintance, or 'best friend' as Jess called herself, of one of the richest kids in their university always had its disadvantages, Eleanore concluded.
"Best. Party. Ever!" Andrea screamed at the top of her lungs, a wide grin on her face. The tall blonde had a red cup in her hand and was jumping up and down like the three year old she is on the dance floor.
Andrea was another acquaintance of hers. Suffice to say that she was the cheery one of their 'trio'. Andrea and Jess were practically attached at the hip. Eleanore didn't want anything to do with them, they were a noisy bunch and she loved her peaceful life. But ever since they found her, she has been the fountain of their entertainment. A scowl glossed her pink lips as she remembered one of the duo's 'shopping trips' in which she was dragged by force.
"A penny for your thoughts?" A deep, amused voice drawled out from behind her. She could practically hear the smirk in his voice.
She turned her stool around swiftly and came face to face with the amused twenty-one year old blonde.
"I'll tell you for free, if you have time, that is." She said politely, nodding at him in acknowledgement.
Unable to hold his amusement in, Shane let out a rich, baritone laugh that she had gotten pretty used to and the attention of the by-standers that came with it. Shane Rodriguez was another acquaintance of hers whom she met nearly six months ago.
The term acquaintance didn't quite explain their situation though. In fact, they had only spoken to each other thrice in these six months. This one being the fourth time.
Eleanore took her time observing him. He was dressed in a navy blue shirt, sleeves rolled up above his elbows, which made his stormy, silver-blue eyes stand out. His natural blonde hair was left messy, spiking out in different directions. His right wrist was adorned with a pure black watch with a large dial and a huge strap and she couldn't see the rest because of the bar counter. He was leaning towards her, elbows on the bar counter, chin in his right hand.
Eleanore grouped him with the handsome guys, and she knew that most girls would agree. He was freakishly tall, the second tallest guy in their uni. Standing at five four, she knew that he was more than a foot taller than her.
She was so busy observing Shane that she almost missed the way his stormy eyes drank her in.
She wasn't wearing anything special, just her usual skinny jeans and a black long top to go with. Eleanore thought it showed her curves reasonably. And she proved herself right when she saw the blue in his eyes become more prominent, and much darker.
"So what are you doing there ?" Eleanore asked, gesturing behind the counter with her free hand. She sipped her drink again.
"Handing out drinks."
