As we left the building Logan suddenly stopped and stood completely still. My guess was that he was hearing something.
"What's wrong?" I asked him.
"Footsteps," he said. "Big ones. Multiple pairs. I'd say there are three armored REVO soldiers heading towards us. Shouldn't be too hard."
I heard it as well then looked behind me and, as he predicted, there were three armored REVO soldiers heading towards us. Logan pulled out his katanas and both of us stood there as if nothing were happening. The soldiers stopped and raised their mini-guns at us.
"You think you can catch that many bullets at once?" I asked Logan.
"Me? No. But I'm pretty sure these swords will come in handy at times like this."
We all just stood there staring at each other, just waiting for the one of us to attack. But they never did. They stood there watching us. I finally decided to break the silence.
"Hey!" I yelled. "Is there a reason you're doing absolutely nothing or are you waiting for us to make a move first? I'm getting really bored over here!"
They just stood there not making a sound. Suddenly one of them whispered into the other's ear.
"What're they saying?" I asked Logan.
"They're asking each other when backup is supposed to arrive. Supposedly in a minute. Hold on." He stayed quiet for a couple moments before finally talking again. "They're approximately half a minute away from us. I suggest we deal with these guys quickly." He put his katanas back and got out one pistol. "I think I can handle this myself." He raised the gun quicker than my eyes could see and before I knew it, all three of them were down on the ground.
I stared at the large metal masses lying on the ground trying to think about what just happened. It was way too fast for me to watch.
I was about to ask Logan what he just did until a bullet smacked me in the face. I turned to my left and found several guys with guns raised at me. Only two of them had the right weapons to kill me but that was enough. I ran to the side as they kept shooting and eventually I found an armored truck to hide behind. I looked around for Logan but I didn't see anyone. Then a shot came from up on the roof of the building. I looked up but couldn't see anything. Another shot went off and another soldier fell to the ground. I saw where it came from but it looked like nothing was there. Definitely had to be Logan. He almost always kills from the shadows. But how the heck did he get up there so fast?
I looked in front of me and saw a huge group of more soldiers with weapons raised. I grabbed my gun and started shooting at all of them while running away. I took a lot of them out and I was pretty happy about it until I heard something flying above me. Sounded like a helicopter. I figured it wouldn't do anything to hurt me so I stayed where I was and waited for it to come around so I could try and shoot the pilot. Then it flew above the roof of the building and had its guns pointed right at me. I started shooting until it fired back so I decided to run off. I nearly got behind another truck until one of the bullets went straight through my leg. I fell to the ground and groaned in pain. I moved behind the truck, peeked around the corner and started shooting at the helicopter. I hadn't been doing much even with the new gun from the basement but that was just because my accuracy had been horrible. New guns always took a bit of time to adjust to but this was different. It really sucked for me.
I kept shooting at it but my aim was terrible since I wasn't aiming at all. Then I watched as a black hooded figure, obviously Logan, jumped from the roof and in the chopper. I couldn't see what was going on in there but apparently he killed them because a few seconds later, it was crashing straight at me. I stood there watching it as it went right through me and had its propellers going in several directions.
There were about fifty guys left and none of them were properly equipped to take us down. Logan and I got together while they made a large circle around us.
"Idiots," Logan said. "A circle is not the wisest shape to be in right now."
I took a few steps to the side of Logan, knowing what he was about to do. And right as they started firing, Logan got out his swords and deflected every bullet with incredible speed. I walked up to a few guys and kicked one of them backwards into a tank and shot several of them. Some tried to throw punches at me but I blocked them and killed them in one blow. I even threw one into the air but he didn't come back down for a while. I took care of most of my guys and watched Logan slice up everyone he could get close to. I walked to one of the tanks and kicked it at all of the guys he had been taking care of. If Logan hadn't moved out of the way, I probably would've killed him. But with his newfound senses I knew that he knew what was about to happen.
After shooting a couple of them, we were completely done without a drop of sweat against our skin. I walked back up to Logan and he lowered his hood to reveal an unhappy face.
"Dude, you nearly killed me," he said. "If I didn't see it coming then I would've been crushed!"
I shrugged and he shook his head in frustration.
Once we started walking I heard something behind me fall. I looked back and, of course, the guy I threw upwards had finally come down and crashed through a truck.
Logan looked and turned to me and asked, "Wasn't that one yours?"

We had a good laugh and headed back into the city to find one thing we were hoping for. The U.S. Military had finally shown up. As we looked around, we saw thousands of people from a bunch of organizations helping out with everyone in the streets. They were giving out food, water, clothing, and just about everything else we needed. They worked really fast apparently. But I didn't care about blankets and bread. My mind was focused on finding something else. Someone else.
I raced throughout the streets looking for Kaylee. After a couple hours of looking around, I saw her standing in a group while people scanned them to check for diseases and stuff.
"Kaylee!" I yelled and saw her look my way in shock. She immediately ran out of the group and up to me.
"Where'd you go?" she asked. "I thought they took you! I was waiting for hours outside thinking you were coming out of there!"
"I was taken by REVO."
She looked at me for a second as she tried to take it all in.
"What'd they do to you?" she asked.
"Nothing too bad actually. It was just really boring up until we busted out."
"How'd you get out?"
I started to explain to her what had happened. She seemed to take it in pretty well when I told her about my newfound powers but I knew she had her doubts.
"You don't believe me?" I asked.
"Not yet," she said. "But I might if I see it for myself."
"Not now. Not with all of these people nearby."
"Dawson!"
I turned to see who called me and saw it was Logan. He had his hood up and his voice changed to conceal himself.
"You can lower your hood here!" I told him.
"Not a chance," he said as he walked up to me. "You and I are needed a few blocks north of here."

Once Logan and I got to our destination, with Kaylee by my side, we found Payton and Elizabeth talking to a man in a fancy black suit.
"Dawson," Payton said. "This is President Longley. He's come here to check how things have been for the last seventeen years."
"Technically that's false," President Longley said. "I came here to help the people with what they need. And please just call me Kelton. I also came here to talk to you Mr. Walker." He overlooked Logan for a moment. "And your friend. What's your name?"
Logan stayed silent.
"That's okay," Kelton said. "I can see why you wouldn't trust someone right when you meet them. Especially since you've been imprisoned like this for so long. Anyways, how about you guys follow me?"
He started to walk down the road and into a large truck filled with tons of computers and stuff.
"This here is some of the best tech on the planet," he said. "Notice how I said 'some'. You probably know that REVO has it better than us. That's why we couldn't hack into their systems or anything. But you guys have taken over their main weapons facility that supplies most other REVO outposts in all of the other cities. America thanks you but sadly we can't celebrate. We still need you guys to help us with the rest. If you guys have any information we should know, just tell us. Any info is highly appreciated."
I looked back at Logan and he nodded. I then proceeded to tell him everything.
