A/N: This chapter is over 2k words and I was surprised because I haven't been writing so much lately. There are mentions of suicide in this, just to warn.

Mimi had been in the hospital for two days already. She was feeling better, left with only a headache. But Scott still decided to visit her. Matt didn't understand why, considering Scott hardly knew her, but he never asked questions.

Mimi always laughed at Scott's lame jokes and even if he was just talking, she smiled anyway. It made her feel more comfortable that Scott was there. Matt never talked to her while he visited; he found it awkward. But Scott sat in the chair right beside Mimi, even having Rose sit on his lap sometimes.

Scott wished that Mimi had been asking him out two days before. He wanted to go out on a date with her, but hearing what Matt said about how he's still in love with her made Scott realize that he and Mimi could never happen. And that made Scott want to not see Mimi so his feelings wouldn't grow deeper, but he couldn't stay away.

"Hi Scott." Mimi said as Scott walked in her room. It was day three.

"Hey Mimi. How are you feeling?" Scott asked, sitting in the chair beside her.

"I feel pretty alright. My headache is going down more." Mimi said, smiling at Scott.

"That's great. Have the doctors told you when you can go home?"

"No, not yet. They come in to give me food and medicine, and that's it."

"Mm. That stinks. Is Matt bringing Rose later?"

"Matt isn't coming today." Scott tilted his head in confusion, "He says I don't need him here and that he's missed one day of work already and can't afford any more."

"He doesn't have to miss work. I don't. And besides, if he doesn't bring Rose then who will?"

She shrugged, "No one, I guess."

"That's ridiculous. Rose wants to see you."

"Oh I know. But I won't force Matt to come here if he doesn't want to."

"I could bring Rose if you'd like? I can pick her up tomorrow morning and bring her since I have the day off."

"Oh no, that's too much."

"No, not at all. I'll bring her here. She really wants to see you, and she should." Mimi smiled at Scott before the nurse came in to give her her medicine.

Scott had left the hospital late yesterday, and was now outside Matt's house to get Rose. Matt lived in the old house he and Mimi had together, so Mimi said. She didn't think it was fair of her to divorce him and take the house, so she moved into a small apartment about fifteen minutes away.

Scott walked up the porch and knocked on the front door. Not long after, Matt opened the door and Rose came running up behind him, "Hey Scott." Matt said.

"Hey Matt." Scott bent down in front of Rose, "Hi Rose. Are we going to see mama?"

"Yeah!" She cheered, running back into the house to slip on her shoes.
