"Seriosuly, Austin?" I heard Ally say in complete exasperation as I kissed her neck again.
"Don't you think you should be helping me?" She asked for the tenth time. I placed my head on the crook of her neck, my arms tightening around her waist and bringing her back close to my chest.
"Am I not helping you?" I asked with a smile.
"Not at all." She murmured as she checked out another blurb of a novel in the library.
"How many books do you need?"
"I've got four, and if you help then we can find another six." She said.
"When are we gonna leave? We've been here for like an hour!" I complained.
It's so quiet over here.
"That's what I've been trying to tell you! Help me find ten books then we can leave after borrowing them!" She said, her eyes still on the blurb of the book.
I looked at her and raised my hand to grab a novel on the shelf. I pulled out a thick book and gave it to Ally.
"The Haitian Revolution? Really Austin?" She asked.
Right, Ally is not a fan of history or war. She gave the book back to me and searched for another book on the shelf, her index finger lingering gracefully over every spine of the novels.
I looked over at the shelves and a white thin book caught my attention. I pulled it out and gave it to Jen. "Here."
"Now two more books to go."
In an instant, Ally turned around and slammed the book to my chest, the colour of her cheeks getting a darker shade of red, and walked away from me to stand on the end of the shelves. Her back was to me and she grabbed a novel again from one of the shelves and immersed herself into her own tiny little fantasy world.
What did I do? I just gave her the book, didn't I?
I brought the book to my face and read the title: 69 Ways To Spice Up Your Life.
Shit! No wonder I triggered such a reaction in her. Damn it!
I walked up to her and placed the book back on the shelf.
"This is embarrassing." I muttered.
"Of course it is." She replied.
I leaned on the shelf, my arms across my chest as I stared back at Ally.
I knew I was love with her but I didn't know that she would become a big part of my life, that my life would be so bland without her. I love her so much. Just these little moments that I spend with her are enough for me. I don't need us to be wild. Just her and me together. The place and time doesn't matter at all. Even if we spend two hours reading a book quietly here can be romantic for me. All the moments we spent together since the day we got together at the camp are priceless for me.
"I just realized that our first day as a couple wasn't really how it should've been."
She turned around, a novel in her hand.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean I was all bruised and bloody and you were all teary. Not really what you had in mind didn't you?" I asked jokingly.
"Well I had a guy in mind who would be brave enough to tell the world the he loves me." She looked up and smiled to me, both of us exchanging a scene from the camp where I kissed her infront of the entire school.
I smiled back at her. To be honest, I don't what had gotten into me that time. I still remember Ally looking fierece and confident with the ball dribbling under her hand and her skin glowing golden underneath the burning sun. I just had the urge to kiss her and I did, completely forgetting that we were in the mids of a competition.
"Let's try this again." I said, grabbing a randon book and kneeling on one foot.
"What are you doing?" Ally frowned.
"Just pretend that this book is a rose for a while?" I said and a beautiful smile formed on her face.
"Ally, I love you. I love you so so much. Do you wanna go out on a date with me? Maybe coffee?" I asked, my heart beat picking up already for no particular reason.
"Hmm. I'm not a fan of coffee." Ally teased.
"Then pizza?" I tried and she nodded in return.
"Pizza it is then!" I said and got back to my feet. Ally took the book from my hand and laughed.
"Haitian Revolution, for the fourth time." She exclaimed.
"I swear I didn't pick that on purpose!" I said, bringing my hands up in surrender.
In a swift moment, Ally's arms wrapped around me neck as she hugged me tightly. I hugged her back, balancing ourselves before we could fall on our back.
"So? Do I take it as you love me too?" I asked.
She looked up to me and, out of the blue, kissed me on the cheek. "I love you too."
