Alissa pov

I couldn't stop thinking about that book. I couldn't get the symbol on the front of it out of my head. I was sitting at my desk, trying to draw it.

"Alissa! Come down for dinner" My father yelled from downstairs.

"Ugh!" I exclaimed frustratingly, slamming my pencil down on the table. What was it!?
This is getting out of hand, I thought, I need to take a break. I had already spent hours up here. I couldn't forget that book, I HAD to see it again. I couldn't explain it, I just did. Later, I decided.

I got up and walked to my door, with a second glance at my notebook, I walked back to my desk and shoved it into the back of the drawer and went downstairs.

"Took you long enough" my little sisters voice called from the dining room. Madison was only 9, but was still one of the most annoying people on the planet.

"Shut up you little cockroach." I told her as I came into the dining room and sat at our wooden table.

"MOM! ALISSA CALLED ME A COCKROACH" She yelled. She was such tattle tale.

"Alissa be nice. Madison you too," My mom called back, "or no desert. Your father made apple pie." My father owns a bakery, so we always get the best apple pie. Both Me and Madison both stopped talking after this, apple pie was important, after all.

"So, Alissa, how was your day at the neighbors? Tell me ALL about them." My mother asked. She always wants to know everything about everyone. She's a terrible gossip, I'm not much better either.

"Fine, I guess. The Charltons are weird people. There are these two twins... ugh, it's like, the shining level creepy." I said. I didn't want to say anything about the book. It just seemed like something I needed to keep secret, for some reason.

Dinner went on without much excitement. After I was done eating I practically ran to my room. Madison ran after me.

"ALISSA! wait up! I wanna play with you!" She yelled up the stairs.

"Not now sis, I have a... paper to write." I yelled back as I shut and locked the door. I heard Alissa at my door, trying to turn the knob to get in.

"lemme in!" She said through the door.

"Have you ever heard of a thing called privacy? I need to get this done. Later, ok?" I told her. She didn't leave.

"liss!" She yelled. Liss was my nickname, I hated it.

"GO AWAY! And don't call me liss!" I yelled back. Finally, she left. I felt bad for yelling, I would apologize later. Right now I had to get this symbol right.

            -That night-
I had the weirdest dream.I was in Amelies' room, except things were unpacked. Her sisters were in there, standing in the door way. Amelie was sitting on her bed, with blue sheets and a penguin pillow, reading the book. The twins weren't happy.

"She shouldn't have been in here Amelie," Aria said."You can't be friends with her." Malia finished.
"Why not?" Amelie asked, "We came here to be normal. For us to do that, you have to make friends" Amelie said without looking up.

"She's not like us, she'll get hurt. She's human. They always do" They told her.

"I'm not so sure" Amelie said thoughtfully.
