Maybe Forever

For All One Knows

This evening began with two young lovers. They were getting lost in each other's company along with love and tenderness being abundant in the air. It was the perfect moment, but thoughts crept slowly and burdened them for a brief complication.

"Can I ask you a question," asked Holly as she lovingly played with her lover, Adams hair.

"Sure, anything you want," he responded with a warming smile across his cheeks.

She returned the great expression. "How long do you think we'll be together?"

"I don't know," he said without worry.

Holly wasn't disappointed by the answer, but she wasn't satisfied. She started to search for more ways to get a better answer. After awhile a question came to her mind and she hesitated before asking it, "Are we ever going to get ma...married, or have children?"

Holly's moment of calm was broken and was now filled with anticipation for an answer to the bold question, but Adam was still just as relaxed. "Maybe. I don't know," he responded.

"Do you want to be with me," she said with a little more worry than before.

Adam turned to face Holly for he knew what she was going through and didn't want that for her. He looked her in the eyes with the same loving smile as before. Holly quickly looked away out of nervousness. Adam didn't accept this and lightly put his hand on Holly's cheek to get her to face him. Now the moment seemed more real and as alive as ever. "I love you now and I won't worry about tomorrow. If I do I might ruin it for both of us," he paused a moment to think, "If I could I would guarantee our relationship and I would say my vows now, but all I can say to you in this moment is, maybe it'll be forever."

Holly was able to accept what he said for now. She relaxed and began to hug him, and they enjoyed the rest of their evening. She would still have questions and so did Adam, but he knew that worrying and thinking about it would only make things more complicated.
