Holly was laying down next to Adam. Her tears dragging against her cheeks like rain on a window. In their old age time seemed to pass faster than they would've ever asked for, but in this moment it was pleasantly slow. Holly could hardly speak. Her throat felt closed tight as if someone had been choking her for days now. Adam was calmly laying down as usual, but this time was weak. He lifted himself up with his little strength. With the last bit of what he had, he kissed her on the cheek then dropped back on the bad with a thump. "Please breath my love," he said.
Holly tried to speak several times, but couldn't till about the tenth try. "I will, dear."
She sat, wanting to say one last thing to him. Her throat hurt so much, but she wanted to let him know how she felt one last time. She started to struggle and let out nothing.
"Holly?" Adam said feeling like he was ripped apart for not being able to help her.
"Yes?" she said with a whimper.
"It'll be ok. I'm off to heaven tonight. Just like when I left for work everyday when we were younger."
"But this time you wont be back," she said finally able to speak.
"No I wont, but you'll come and live with me there when the time is right."
"That could take too long though," she cried while pressing herself closer to him.
"Once there we'll have forever," Adam said reassuringly.
"What's it gonna be like there?"
"I couldn't tell you if I tried."
"Will you love me there?"
"Yes." He thought for a brief moment. "Will you love me while I'm gone?"
"Oh yes, Adam. I'll love you every second like it has been since the beginning," she said with a burst of emotion and truth.
Adam had a moment of pain then nothingness. He let out his final breath as he laid beside his true love one last time. "I'll see you soon, my love. Remember it's ok and this isn't goodbye, but rather goodnight."
Holly knew the body next to her was now empty. She got up not feeling comforted by the corps. It was crushing her in everyway imaginable, but it soon dawned. She slowly started to understand and drop the sensation of fear she had. It was beginning to become day and she felt better. She knew he was around and loved her more than possible before.
Adam and Holly spent their lives together. It was uncertain at times, but they made it with love and understanding. From the beginning Adam wanted to marry her and end their time together, but he never risked it and didn't mention it till he proposed. Holly didn't know about his plan from the start, but was as ever satisfied with the results. All those years of asking questions, but she was silent now and it was all ok.
