Malia POVI clutched the dagger closer to my chest as I lowered myself to the ground. My breathing was heavy and my limps were aching with exhaustion for climbing the near town's buildings. But my eyes narrowed on my target who continued walking down the street calmly, he wore a black top hat and held himself high. No one but me could see that he was carrying a sword under his cloak, from what I have heard he planned to kill an entire village of the poor. Because he believed he was following 'God's command.'
Well, I was following someone else's command, and I was instructed to kill him before the sun hit the middle of the sky. Gritting my teeth together I prepared myself for the kill, with adrenaline pumping throughout my veins I was confident I would be able to move fast enough. My eyes scanned the street and found no other civilians in sight. I only had a moment to get this right.
Quickly I bolted out of the alleyway and pulled my dark hood over my head, the man turned a moment too late as I swiftly swiped my blade across his neck. The man's eyes widened as he fell to the ground, sputtering nosies leaving his mouth.
Leaning down to his dying body I hissed the few words he would hear before his death;
"For those you were to kill."
The man stared at me, his eyes grew larger before soon he stopped. His life dwindled away and I was left with the pit in my stomach again. Placing my dagger away I sucked in a quick breath. Standing I heard a women's shriek from behind me, I didn't turn for my face was still hidden. Silently cursing to myself I dropped the bloodied dagger to the ground.
"Murder!" The women cried and I blocked out the words.
Silently I jumped over the body and vanished within the woods that lined the small village. I had confidence they would find the sword and see that I had done the right thing, that my killing wasn't cruel. And they would also know who had done this;
For they would know me by one name, and one name only.
The Coyote.

Lydia's POV
In and out. That was what they instructed me to do.
When the images of dead flew through my mind and a cold feeling washed over my entire body. Don't scream they told me, for is the kingdom found out a banshee was about to get the crown. They would all kill me without a second thought.
I sucked in a sharp breath. Clutching the edge of my shirt I fluttered my eyes open again to see my younger sister sitting at the edge of my bed, her eyebrows were furrowed together with a pout on her face.
"Why do you always do that?" She asked, turning her head slightly to the side. I could see true confusion filtered into her eyes; And I find myself filled with surprising envy. She didn't have to live with the burden of knowing if someone was dying, she didn't have to live with seeing it happen before you every night, she didn't have to live with the burden of that secret.
"Pain spasms, remember?" I chimed in and Sofia rolled her eyes and kicked her legs angrily on the bed.
"You always say that," She whines, "I know you're lying."
Sighing I sat down next to her and ruffled the ten year olds hair. "I'm not, Mother explained it to you. Remember?"
"Yeah, yeah," She mutters, pushing my hand away from her. "That we have pain spasms in my family, and I was lucky for it to not effect me." She rolled her eyes and crossed her arms. "But it sounds fake, I don't believe you guys anymore."
Shaking my head I stood again, the bitterness overwhelming me. If only she knew.
"Get dressed Sofy, Mother will be calling for dinner soon." I mutter and I hear her quick leap from my bed and her tiny footsteps against the cold floor. She paused.
"What about you? You gotta put on your dress too."
I gave her a dramatic look, "When have I ever not put on a dress willingly, I'll be down shorty after you." I announced and the little girl rolled her eyes at me and sauntered out of my room.
I stood there for a few moments, sucking in a breath as I stared at my reflection. My long strawberry blonde hair fell softly around me and in all honestly, I really did look like a princess. Sighing I forced myself to stand straight and I grinned at my reflection. I will be okay. I tell myself.
"Lydia! Where the hell are you?" I hear my mothers trill voice rise throughout the castle. Growling I felt the anger come back in like a smash at the sound of her voice. God, I have never hated someone as much as I hated her. Staring back into the mirror I realized the cold feeling had vanished, and now I was only left with a numb feeling in the pit of my stomach.
Grunting I turned, leaving my room to face my hell of a family.
~~~
"There was another assassination today in the kingdom." My father announced at the dinner table. He stood tall at the end of the place, with his silky robes covering him elegantly. Reminding everyone who wasn't royalty, in this room, of how powerful and rich he truly was.
I was surprised he didn't wear his stupid crown too.
"They claim it was the huntress again." He speaks smoothly like any king should and I narrow my eyes at the name. I had heard lots about the infamous huntress; some claiming she is an old wise killer and others saying she is only a young girl. I wasn't sure what one I believed but I felt my stomach twist with a odd jealousy.
How much I would give to be in the shadows, not that I didn't like being a princess. But the crown I would be given, was haunting me
at night. And the marriage,"Who was the man." I ask, my eyes darting up to meet my fathers.
"A useful one, a noble. Shame to see him go."
He's lying. Is the first thought to appear in my mind, I saw the shift of his feet and how he couldn't meet my eyes. I had seen the man, when the images flew through my mind. He was going to do something- I just didn't know what. Huffing I leaned back on my chair and I saw the sharp glare from my mother out of the corner of my eyes.
"What is with the sass tonight?" She demanded and I made a loud groan, not bothering to face her.
"Why do you think I have sass?" I shot back as my mother gasped.
Standing she slammed her hands onto the table and my heart jumped to my throat. Turning quickly I faced her as her cold eyes bared into me.
"Lydia Martin," She snarled, I watched in horror as her cold grey eyes locked with mine. "You will not speak to your queen in that way. Go, you will have no dinner tonight."
Swallowing I pulled myself to my feet and nodded my head quickly. She never got that angry at me, but with her eyes following me on the way out.
I was in no hurry to disobey her.
