Malia's POV

Do you ever do something and you're like, fuck, I really shouldn't have done that.

Standing in front of the girl I'm supposed to assassinate and let's not forget, the future queen of the country I live in. It's the only thing going through my head, maybe because I had just shown her my deadliest secret.

I should be running around with a stamp on my head that says; execute me, chop my head off; I'm a monster who's probably here to kill you!

But surprisingly, she doesn't scream. Instead she sways forward slowly when the guard's limp body tumbles to the ground. Her eyebrows furrow together in curiosity as she studies my claws and eyes. Quickly I grab the power back and I feel myself fall back to normal but the princess has still seen me.

She watches me before speaking, "Who are you?" She demands and I feel my blood go cold. I hesitate before speaking, honestly not sure of what to say.

"My names Malia, Malia Tate." I finally spit out and she nods her head.

"What are you? A werewolf?" She questions, her eye flickering with interest and I'm surprised how well the lady is taking this. I bite my lip before I finally mumble;

"Yeah you could say that."

I had little interest in telling her I was a were-coyote, the princess wasn't stupid. She could put two and two together.

The girl nods her head before forcing a smile on her face, "Help me find a dagger around here or something-"

I frown at the statement, "Why?"

"Because I need to tell someone what happened, and I highly doubt you want me to say that their cause of death was from claws that grew from your fingertips."

She jokingly rolls her eyes as if it was obvious. I study the girl, she was smarter than I have her credit for. She scanned the floor before she saw the sword one of the guards had dropped.

She picked it up and spun it so the handle faced me. "Here."

I take it and she quickly pushed past me and started trotting down the hallway. Her dressed
bounced and pieces of the torn fabric fell to the ground.

Suddenly she turned, "Don't worry, your secrets safe with me." She cast me a quick wink before slipping away.

I was left in silence, for someone who had almost been assassinated she was quite chipper. Maybe she was in shock, she had to be in shock-

"Ughh-" A voice groaned and my graze snapped over to one of the guards, he didn't appear to have any wounds. But his eyes fluttered open then closed again as if he was in pain.

Walking over to him I searched for any type of bruising, a sign that maybe the princess was skilled in combat.

The scream.

My eyes flashed up at the thought, her scream. That's what I had heard, it was piercing. Perhaps that had something to do with it.

"Princess, where was the accident?" A voice trailed down the hallways and I quickly stood again. I watched as the princess, the king and a guard came running down the hallway.

"There!" She cried, "The girl that saved me is there too."

I watched as the king stopped and motioned for the guard to investigate. "What happened?" He demanded,

"I heard the princess screams and I came as fast as I could, in fear that something was to happen to your majesty." I stutter, but I kept my eyes locked with the older man who nodded his head in approval.

Suddenly he was hugging me, "Thank you." He muttered before pulling away.

"Go back to your quarters, you will have a raise in your pay check."

I bowed, "Thank you your highness." I whispered, turning quickly I sent the princess a soft smile before dropping my head down.

The guilt already swarming my stomach.

Lydia's POV

I was quickly escorted to my room, my dad kissed the top of my head before closing the door behind him.  Slumping against my chair I released a shaky breath.

"I'm scared." I heard the soft voice of my sister behind me, turning I saw Sofia sitting on my bed. Her pink dress was wrinkled and she had tears falling down her small face.

"Oh, Sofy." I gasped, quickly moving over to bring her into a hug, "Everything's going to be okay."

"No, no things aren't going to be." She sobbed, "The guards, they're supposed to protect us. But, but they tried to kill you."

I could only shake my head slowly, pressing a soft kiss to her forehead I squeezed her shoulder, "Mom and Dad are going to keep us safe, it's going to be okay just... sleep." I whispered and the little girl curled into a ball.

Standing I pulled a blanket over her shaking form before smoothing out my ripped dress. Walking over to my desk I pulled out the bottom drawer and stared at the item hidden there. A sharp blade, something my father had given to me for my 14th birthday, grabbing it I slipped it under my skirt and hooked it on to my legging.

Narrowing my eyes I stood confidently. I couldn't relay on my powers, I needed to learn how to control them. I needed to protect my kingdom if it was under attack.

Glancing over at my crying sister I felt my heart ache, my mother was blessed with the banshee power as well but as she grew older the power died down more, more power grew in me.

She was almost completely human, and I was almost completely banshee. I needed to master my power, opening the large wooden door I stalked down the hallway.

My eyes narrowed on my destination, the guards gave me confused glances and I feel a cold feeling wash my bones but I hold it back.

Standing in front of the chamber door I swallowed hard before knocking;

Swinging open the door Scott stood there, he was completely fine. My eyes narrowed at him before I grabbed the dagger hidden from under my skirt and pressed it to his throat.

"What are you." I snarl, my eyes flashing with anger and a boiling pit of power swirls in me, I realize, with horror, my body is telling me if I go any farther. Someone was going to die.

Scott's eyes grew large as he places his hands in front of himself as I slammed his chamber door closed. "Lydia!" He gasped.

"What are you!" I shrieked, the prince stumbles at the foot of his bed and collapses.

Suddenly his eyes darken, red dances within the hazel colours and my heart quickens, he speaks with a deathly tone. "I could ask you the same question, Miss Martin."

A/N - Idk what I'm doing anymore lmao :P
