I left the restaurant that night checking my rear view mirror constantly. Someone was watching me, I knew it. They were following me. I began to speed up, my heart was beating faster, my adrenaline was starting to pump throughout my system of veins that transported precious oxygen to my body.I caught a glimpse of them a couple of times, they were right behind me! I could hear my heart beat loud above everything else. They were following me. They knew who I was. They knew where i lived. They knew how to get there. I caught a glimpse as i again checked into my mirror. I saw its eyes watching me from my back seat. I immediately and foolishly swung myself around to see for sure if there was anything there. There was nothing, I was alone. I turned back around and in an instance slammed the brakes and came to a screeching halt just inches over the white line. I looked around breathing heavily, "how could I be such an idiot?" I thought to myself. I was becoming paranoid, I was seeing things. I knew it. This job... It was driving me insane, perhaps I hadn't noticed it, maybe the stress of this new job was pushing me a little too far.
I sat there breathing slowly for a while, at least until the robot light changed to green. I arrived home and got out the car, the morning air made my teeth chatter and my lips feel like they were freezing. Smash! I immediately looked to my house. My first thought was "Thief!" I picked up my phone and got ready to call 911 as I approached my house. I put my key into the door, but the feeling I got when I tried to turn it frightened me. The door was already unlocked! I slowly and more cautiously than ever opened the door, and creeped into my home. It felt strange sneaking into my own house. As I snuck into my house I crawled underneath the table, it was a bit higher than a normal table but I still felt cramped underneath. I sat there listening, waiting. It was dark and I was shaking a little from the insecurity I felt inside my own home. I sat there for a while listening very, very closely. After what felt like forever I finally began to crawl out from under the table. I slowly got up and flicked on the light. The kitchen's light felt like a warm blanket that comforted me despite my fears. I put my keys down on the table, my hand was still shaking, but I began to calm down. I walked into my bedroom and checked for my phone, I tapped my pockets in search of my phone.. Then I remembered, I dropped it outside. I left my house and picked up my phone before returning again. I turned on the screen and stared at it for fifteen minutes. "It's Me" was typed onto the phone and used as a wallpaper. I sure has heck hadn't set that as my wallpaper. I put the phone on the table again and proceeded to turn on the TV.
