I woke up and looked around at the four blank walls, where was I? My vision was still trying to focus.
When but did I was it was 9 pm.. Jeez.. How long had I been passed out?
"Kyle! Mr Summers please lay back down, I will dismiss you when I have finished your checkups and when your roommate comes to collect you!" Said Matron.
"What do you mean, 'when your roommate comes to collect you!?" I asked, rubbing my head.
"Mr Summers, please lay down, and with the injures you have, I cannot dismiss you on your own, so until the end of the week, Reginald will stay with you." She said.
I rolled my eyes and laid back down, because it was only Monday and I don't think I can last that long with Reg!
For fucks sake! Not only do I have to sit with this banging headache for God knows how long, I've got to listen to Reg piss and moan about everything, and a lot more than usual, because he'll have to do stuff for me.
At about 11, Reg finally came to 'collect' me, which I was pissed about because I know he could have been there a lot earlier, but he knows I hate medical.
I went to sleep and woke up at around 10am to hushed whispering.
"Morning!" Shouted Thomas, scaring Reg more than he did me.
"You two are talking again then?" I asked.
"Technically whispering, but yeah, suppose so." Reg said, looking into the mirror, but picking up a news paper, I swear he's actually a 65 year old man.
I couldn't actually see him, but I know his voice well enough to know that he was smiling when he said this. He pretended he forgets about Thomas, but they were extremely close. Even though it was Thomas that tried talking to him, and was crying and moaning about their fallout for ages, I could tell it hurt Reg more.
"Are you ever gonna tell me what happened?" I asked.
Reg slammed the news paper onto his desk.
"Erm.." Thomas said.
"I'm going to get your breakfast" Reg said, walking out of the room.
"I'll take that as a no then." I said rolling my eyes.
"Why aren't you in class?" I asked Thomas.
"Oh, sorry sir." He said sarcastically.
"Well, I asked Mr. Jones if I could help Reg- Reginald." He said as Reg walked back into the room.
"Just Reg thanks, unless your my Mother." He snapped.
He slammed the orange juice onto the desk then threw a piece of toast onto the bed. He then walked over to his desk, picked up a book and walked out.
"You've got Thomas, I'm going to maths, you know I'm shit at it." He said, walking out and slamming the door.
"Jeez, you really hit a nerve." Thomas said.
"Yeah, well I brought up a bad memory, it really hurt him, and he doesn't like to talk about it." I said.
He smiled.
"What, what is that smile for Thomas?" I asked.
"I just, never thought tha-" He started.
"That he was upset by it? Honestly he's so good at acting I have no idea why he didn't chose drama, But he mentions you a lot." I said, talking a bite out of my toast.
"Really?" He asked.
"Yes, not directly but he does." I said, to earn a huge smile from Thomas which made me laugh.
"Wait, he said he's rubbish at Maths, but he was really good at it, wasn't he?" Thomas asked.
"Yeah, when you we're his tutor" I said.
We spent the rest of the morning and afternoon watching films, eating and just generally enjoying ourselves.
At half four Reg walked into the room, threw his book against the wall and laid face down on his bed.
"Hey bud, you okay?" I asked.
"Do I fucking look it?" He asked sitting up and retrieving his book and placing all the loose sheets of paper in order.
"What's up Reg?" Thomas said, getting up and sitting next to Reg on his bed.
"I'm failing maths! Hard!" Reg replied with his head in his hands.
Thomas made eye contact with me as if to ask what to do and I just raised an eyebrow.
"Erm, I could tutor you if you want?" Thomas said, somewhat awkwardly.
"Would you?" Reg said with a smile.
I sat and watched them and it made me happy seeing they were friends again.
Every day was the same.. I sat watching films with either Reg or Thomas and the other would bring me my work, then they'd sit on Reg's bed and do maths.
That was until Sunday night.. The day had gone as every Sunday does. Nothing really happened, until about six.
Thomas and Reg we're sat on his bed doing homework.
"So, what do you want to talk about?" I asked, getting extremely bored.
"YOU! I have a question.. Why did you just break up with Jaime?" Thomas asked.
"What do you mean? I told you" I said, regretting the question.
"No, I think he means why did you JUST break up with her, why didn't you talk about it first? Tell her about it. I mean I'm not complaining, I do have a huge crush on her but still." He asked.
"Erm." I started, but the door opened and guess who walked in?
Jaime.
"Hey Kyle, I just wanted to bring you these and make sure you were okay." She said, handing me a container with blueberry muffins in and sitting on my bed.
She was wearing white skinny jeans, a light pink crop top with matching pink slip on shoes. She was still wearing the love heart necklace I got for her four years ago. That made me slightly guilty.
She hadn't straightened her hair so it was slightly wavy and she ha put minimal make-up on. She looked beautiful, and she knew this is how I would feel. She remembered all the thing I thought made her look physically beautiful and tried to use it against me.
"I'm fine thank you Jaime." I said, sitting up and putting the muffins on my bed side table.
"Er, Jess wanted to know what the last thing you remembered was?" She said, going slightly pink.
"Well, you can tell 'Jess' that I remember being beat up by your gang after breaking up with you." I said, making a point that I remembered breaking up with her.
"Ah, I see." She said, her eyes beginning to fill with tears.
She took her necklace off slowly and kept it in her hand for a second. She leaned forward, grabbing my hand and placing the necklace in it, and she kissed me on the cheek, she then got up and began to leave. Before she did though, she walked back, leaned around the corner and whispered, loud enough for everyone to hear:
"I will get you back, Summers."
And left before the tears rolled down her face.
