The next morning, Avalon told me she had one more birthday surprise for me. If I chose to accept it. She led me outside and waiting for us was an old Volkswagen bus. "I'm going on tour with a few friends from back home and we were wondering if you would headline the shows for us?" I couldn't believe she was asking me to open her tours. Only a few people knew I could sing, I was always too afraid to show my talent to too many people for fear of rejection. Now Avalon was wanting me to go with her and perform in front of millions of fans? What about Mackenzie? What about my son? What if I get really bad stage fright and throw up and ruin everything? What if this is my one chance to make it big? I didn't know what to say. "Can I sleep on it?" I asked her. "Sure, but let me know tomorrow because that's when we are leaving" she told me. Great. Less than 24 hours to make a decision. I wasn't sure I could do this.
