Chapter 6: The Handsome Stranger in the Elevator...

The next day Kalene went to her job and spoke to her supervisor about being hired as the new personal assistant for Marco De Luca. It was set that she would come in when needed on the weekends.

After getting out of work, she took the bus and headed to the De Luca building. She hadn't heard anything from Manny and in a way she was relieved. She knew he would be busy and if she called him he would probably get mad at her.

Walking through the building she went up to the same receptionist she had seen the day before. 

"May I help you?" looking up at her.

"Yes hi. I got hired as Mr. De Luca's assistant and I was told to come today to fill out the paper work?!"

"Ms. Bello I'm assuming?" typing away at her keyboard.

"Yes."

"Alright. Well, you need to go to the 72nd floor where Mrs. Harrison is. Here's your visitor's pass." handing her the pass she takes it.

"Thank you." Kalene tells her with a smile then heads towards the elevators.

Pushing the button she waits patiently for it. After a few seconds the doors open and she steps in.

As they began to close she heard a man's voice scream. "Please hold the door." automatically she pushed the open button for the person.

The doors began to open again revealing a very handsome man rushing in. He panted then looked up at her. "Thank you." smiling at her.

"You are welcome." she blushed.

Leaning around her he pushed the button to his floor glancing at her. "Which floor?"

"Umm, 72nd please."

He pushed the button to the floor she needed to get off then stepped back. They stayed in silence for a while, he would glance over at her every few seconds.

The elevator music played softly in the background making the handsome stranger hum and whistle lowly to the catchy tune. "So, do you work here?"

Kalene turned and looked up at him. His hazel eyes stared back at her. He looked familiar to her but she couldn't pin point from where.

"I was hired yesterday." 

"Oh? Well, congratulations. Who for?" he smiled.

"I will be Mr. D-" she began to say but he grunted when he heard his cell go off.

"I'm sorry." pulling out his phone from his pocket. "Ciao?" he greeted in Italian.

"Sì io sono già qui. Non ti preoccupare, io sto andando ora. Si, in ascensore con una ragazza molto bella." (Yes, I'm already here. Don't worry, I'm on my way up now. Yes, in the elevator with a beautiful girl.) glancing over at Kalene with a smile.

Kalene felt his stare but wouldn't look his way. "Ciao." he says then puts his phone away.

"Sorry about that. My brother." he tells her.

"No problem." she tells him as the elevator doors open. "Have a good day." stepping out.

"Wait." calling out to her holding the doors open. 

"Yes?"

"I didn't get your name." 

Kalene smiled. "That's because I didn't give it to you. Bye." then turned around giggling.

The stranger smiled then let the doors close. "I'll see you soon cara mia." smirking at the thought of seeing her again.

After forty five minutes of filling out paperwork, Kalene was on her way to get her picture taken for her employee ID. 

"Ok Kalene, smile." the man who was going to take her picture tells her. Seeing the flash she smiles.

"Perfect, you have a really nice smile." he tells her.

"Thank you." telling him.

A few minutes later the picture is processed and handed to her. Thanking him she follows Mrs. Harrison out so she can show her to the floor where she will be working with Mr. De Luca.

Reaching the 73rd floor she notices that the whole floor was the office. A big mahogany desk sat in the middle of the room with a young woman sitting behind it. To the right was a door and the name plate said Marco De Luca, CEO...her new boss.

"Okay Ms. Bello, let me show you to your desk and introduce you to the temp that has been filling the position." following Mrs. Harrison towards the desk.

"Felicia, this is Kalene. She is Mr. De Luca's new assistant." introducing her.

Standing up she nods. "Nice to meet you."

"Likewise." nodding back.

"Alright ladies, I have to go back to my office. Felicia, can you show Kalene the basics for about thirty minutes and tomorrow you can show her the rest?"

"Sure thing Mrs. Harrison."

"Alright ladies. Have a good rest of your day and Kalene if you have any questions come see me."

"I will, thank you." smiling at her.

Watching the woman leave Felicia turned to her. "So, you're the new assistant they hired over me?" crossing her arms.

"Yes, I am. Did you apply for the full time position?"

"I did and obviously I wasn't hired...you were. Do you even have experience?" she snapped at Kalene.

Kalene was taken back by her demeanor. "I do and I am sorry that you weren't hired. I was called for an interview yesterday and then..."

"Hold on? You had the interview yesterday and were hired that fast? How? Who do you know? Did you sleep with Marco to get the position? You better have not cause he is mine!" Felicia interrupted her. 

"What? No. I haven't even met Mr. De Luca yet." Kalene tells her. What is her problem? Thinking to herself.

Felicia glared at her. "I'll be right back." stomping away towards the elevators.

Kalene stood there baffled. "What just happened?"

"Felicia...Felicia. Can you please come in here?" hearing a male's voice through the phone's intercom.

Stepping towards the phone she pressed the button. "Sorry, Felicia stepped out for a minute, but I am the new hired assistant."

"Oh, okay, can you please come in the office?" he tells her.

"Yes sir, I'll be right in." straightening her back she took a deep breath and walked towards the closed door.

Knocking once she hears a "Come in."

Opening the door she walks in and stops in her tracks. "You...?!"

Hi guys, hope everyone is well. Sorry I haven't updated. I was trying to finish one of my books "I'm Only His" which I did, check it out if you haven't already.

Anyways, Kalene is at the De Luca building filling out her new employment paperwork and meets a handsome stranger who seems interested in her. Will they meet again? And what was wrong with Felicia?

I will try to update when I get a chance. I am trying to take a writing break.
